I would say forget the D7200 and buy a new D7100. Not a huge amount of difference between them feature wise, but the 7100 is several hundred dollars less expensive. It is less than a new 5500 and a much better camera in most ways.

I'm not sure about the current price, but the big three retailers Adorams, B&H, and Cameta always seem to have the best prices on Nikon gear. If you join a website called EBates, you get 2.5 to 3% cash back for your purchases from participating sellers. It just so happens that Cameta is a member of EBates, and I got a check for $48 from EBates when I bought my D610 from Cameta in August of 2014. Just a thought.

Gee thanks. I often buy from Cameta and never heard of Ebates, but I will. Especially as I'm planning to purchase the a7000, if Sony took my advice on changes to the a6000.

Bad, bad place to buy. Most likely grey market. Wouldn't be a good choice after their alleged warranty runs out if you need service.

Not necessarily the case...just purchased a New Sigma 17-50mm f2.8
Included all Standard Sigma covers, hood & case...free shipping at an Excellent price. .verified serial number with Sigma all checked out full 4 year Sigma warranty. ..just relating my experience...Normally I buy from B+H...got this deal through Amazon. ..so I felt better about trying 42n st. Photo out...Satisfied. !!

Why not consider a refurbished one? They have 7200's on Nikon's site for $999.96. I've bought several refurbished camera products and they haven't failed me once yet look absolutely brand new.

Kick in the extra $200 and get a new one with a one year as opposed to a 90 day warranty.

Hi, I have decided on a Nkon D7200 and was wondering if any of you that keep up with all the latest news have any idea when there will be a price drop? I'm in no hurry, but I was hoping to get one a little cheaper. Don't want a refurbished one, The camera I get will be with mea very long time, as I still have the same rebel from 10 years ago. I don't get all the latest and greatest! LOL There wasn't any special sales through the holidays which I was hoping for. I saw a great deal on the D5500 recently at BestBuy but after playing with both, I'm drawn to the 7200. Any idea??? thanks

No one can tell you precisely when the price will drop.

Bet you a dollar to a dime that the $849 price is for grey market. Read the small print. Not an authorized dealer. You pays your money and takes your chances.

Well saying it almost the same is , it's is but it is not . The difference is the
D7200 is a D7100 . With all the little bugs and mistakes worked out Of the D7100. And for that alone it makes the D7200 the one you should get no matter what . and a refurbished is what you should if your trying to save $$$
A good clean refurbished camera, should last you a very long time . Just as long as you would want to keep a new one . Ten years would be no problem
If you only took ten thousand pictures a year . Most here in the know would
Not think twice about getting a refurbished camera over a new one . In some cases a low actuations 15000 to 30000 is not a high number on a camera that's been built to with stand 150000 actuations . You should have a year left
To take 365 pictures a day every day for a year tell you get there . Don't every be scared to buy refurbished . But if spending is no problem for you get
What ever turns your crank ..

The d7200 price will drop when the d7300 comes out. I was holding out for the D7100 to come out and finnally decided to go ahead and get the d7000 and not wait anymore. I went on line and the D7100 was annonced that morning for presale. I looked on line then checked with my local camera store, all pricing was with in $3 of each other I ordered the D7100 and have been very happy with the camera. That said I would defiantly go with the D7200 for the larger buffer as that is the only concern I ever have with my D7100. Nikon regulates their prices so if you see one cheaper it will probibly be grey market or open box type deal.

Actually, you have to ask two questions. When will the price drop? How long will be alive and healthy? If the current price is totally out of the question, it will never be affordable, especially if you reject used and refurbs. The D7200 is a great camera.

Years ago, I worked with a guy who wouldn't buy a color TV. His excuse? Where he lived, he got only one channel.

I bought a refurb D7100. The shutter count was 752! Essentially a new camera.
