Hi, I have decided on a Nkon D7200 and was wondering if any of you that keep up with all the latest news have any idea when there will be a price drop? I'm in no hurry, but I was hoping to get one a little cheaper. Don't want a refurbished one, The camera I get will be with mea very long time, as I still have the same rebel from 10 years ago. I don't get all the latest and greatest! LOL There wasn't any special sales through the holidays which I was hoping for. I saw a great deal on the D5500 recently at BestBuy but after playing with both, I'm drawn to the 7200. Any idea??? thanks

Seems like someone needs to make the decision for you, so I say buy it. PM me your credit card info and I'll buy it for you if you like!

Actually, you have to ask two questions. When will the price drop? How long will be alive and healthy? If the current price is totally out of the question, it will never be affordable, especially if you reject used and refurbs. The D7200 is a great camera.

Years ago, I worked with a guy who wouldn't buy a color TV. His excuse? Where he lived, he got only one channel.

I'm not sure about the current price, but the big three retailers Adorams, B&H, and Cameta always seem to have the best prices on Nikon gear. If you join a website called EBates, you get 2.5 to 3% cash back for your purchases from participating sellers. It just so happens that Cameta is a member of EBates, and I got a check for $48 from EBates when I bought my D610 from Cameta in August of 2014. Just a thought.

I have a D7200 and think you will like it as I do. Wouldn't expect to see its replacement causing a price drop anytime soon as Nikon, judging by its recent releases, has been concreting elsewhere lately. ;)

I am pretty sure the price will drop the day after you purchase one. :-)

seems to me that eventually there will always be a price drop ..when a new model comes out then you're going to want that one instead and then want to wait for that price drop...i say get what you want when you want to get it at a reasonable cost that you can afford..enjoy the camera and don't worry about a few bucks if you have the money at the time..

Why not consider a refurbished one? They have 7200's on Nikon's site for $999.96. I've bought several refurbished camera products and they haven't failed me once yet look absolutely brand new.

If you want a camera for a long time, and your in no hurry, buy the new D500, so many more features than the D7200. You will be happier, but your wallet won't.
