The Empire State lit up for Veterans Day, no rain, yay! Taken with Nikon Df. I plan on doing the HighLine next trip, I'm told it's well worth doing.

High Line is great, but almost always crowded. so great street photography during the day, and good city shots at night.

Love your shot of the empire state bldg!

Here are two others from my trip that I like:

Wow!! That pic of the "Cafe' wha" took me back. Before going to VietNam in 1968, I was stationed at the late-great Philadelphia Naval hospital. Went up to new York on week-ends, and remeber the Cafe' Wha and going to Greenwich Village...Way back in my youth. Thanks for showing it. RJM

thanks. In addition to loving the pastel colors, I like the fact that its a shot of the stage door, on Minetta Street not the front on Macdougal, so one can imagine its 1963 or so and Dave Van Ronk or even Zimmerman is coming out!

would love to hear from those only that have been to nyc and what lens you used, or better yet, what one lens do you wish you would have taken. I am headed there for a wedding over Thanksgiving and will have about one full day to myself to walk the streets..... I wont have full kit with me, and will be taking a full frame Canon 5dm3.
Thanks in advance for any/all input.

I was in NYC a year ago exactly with my daughter. We walked the High Line, went up the Empire State Building at sunset, watched the Veterans Parade up 5th Avenue, went to the 9/11 Museum and sailed past the Statue of Liberty on a cruise liner. Canon 24-105 did well for all these places, and I have some great photos. Highly recommend this lens.

Last time I went it was with a 6D and 24-105L, but if I were going today would bring either a 35/2 IS or nifty fifty.

My 'go to' lens is the 'EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS' on my 5DMkII.

If I were going there with a full frame i think I'd want my 24-105 IS, cause I think it would do a great job and only one lens to carry;

I was in NYC in September, I used a Nikon 28mm -300mm on a full frame. Check out my images on my website.

If I had to take one lens, I'd take my 24-105.

I'd take my 18-300mm Sigma-bought it just for this kind of thing-a one lens/one camera solution.

I was there with a 40 mm lens. Would take wider next time.
