How can you say EVERYONE is jealous of Canon cameras?

Have you asked EVERYONE?

Your argument is based on a false premise.

You must be in a very small crowd or you are a Canon homie period. I have had Nikon. Minolta and several other camera brands and I have never seen red when someone wanted a canon. Get want is best for you not what someone else thinks. Or is it you see red when someone doesn't want a canon LOL.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Buying a Nikon* doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon* owner. Anon

Why does EVERYBODY besides Canon shooters start seeing red when someone announces they want a Canon Camera?
It's not because the sensors are better.

So why so much insecurity and jealousy?!

Is it because Canon is #1. Is it because more pros use them than any other camera? Is it because they shoot faster? Is it because they have more AF lenses? Or maybe because in real world tests the 5Dmklll is always picked the better camera over the D810? Or because Canon sells 10x more cameras than Sony?

Canons are just a flat out better camera and the new 7Dmkll must be pretty intimidating, but why all the jealousy?!

NOW, breath iiiiin, now breath ooooout. See, the red is already going away!

Because for 10 years I shot with Canons and decided to try the new Nikons 3 years ago and am extremely happy with my D5200 and a bunch of Nikon lenses and right now I would rather fight than switch. I sell images, I am self employed and was the AGFP Gallery's top money maker for 5 years. That's why.

Who really gives a rat's butt about the equipment we use? It's about vision and the ability to use the tools we have to capture an image that tells others something about ourselves or the world around us. That's important. The rest is posturing.

Star, thanks for the perspective. I never said you are part of "everybody". Many are not, but MANY more are. And it's ok to rave about your camera, we all do that. But you probably don't run around insulting those that don't, as some do.
Sometimes the jealousy gets so thick you could slice it and fry it!
We've all witnessed it. If not been targets. ;-)

You know you do come across like the head of the canon cheerleading squad, fair enough you adore canon. Lets assume canon do make the best dslrs on the planet and yes canon has the largest market share currently.

However having a camera with a canon logo doesn't necessarily equate with having the best camera around.

Since Canon make great camera's and good camera's when you buy a good canon as compared with a great canon you must be buying an inferior camera because it isn't a great canon camera.

So it also becomes apparent that the majority of canon camera owners are buying inferior cameras because it's a certainty that canon sells more inferior camera's than great camera's.

This then gives other manufacturers an edge in. Perhaps they are incapable of matching or beating a great canon dslr but can they make a better camera than a good canon dslr? The answer would seem to be yes as most canon camera's are not as good as great canon cameras and since these lessor canon camera's are flawed examples. There will be alternatives that are a better choice for some people.

Does a great camera become a lesser camera because it has been used?
I think the answer is no to that within reason (a damaged camera clearly is). So is a secondhand hand nikon 610 a better camera than some new canon camera's. I think the answer has to be a yes here.

Therefore I conclude that no the answer is never going to be just buy a canon. As long as there are alternatives and they can be a better option than buying a flawed canon.

It should never be about the brand but the camera in your hands and what you can do with it.

I don't like the ergonomics of Canon cameras. I don't like how the shutter button is in a groove that forces the index finger into one position. Buttons of different shapes are laid out all over the place. I think Nikon has put more thought into the layout of the buttons and controls. Everybody has different preferences though and should get the one that best suits them.

If Bullshit was fertilizer all canon users would have botanical gardens growing around their canon camera bodies. LOL Try using a canon DSLR lens on a canon FX body will you.

I went with Canon for one reason..... There is no question about how to pronounce Canon. I mean what kind of camera is made by a mfg. with a name which is pronounced differently where you go. Gee really is it even the same camera?
I had one of those cameras and it broke while in a country that pronounced it differently and they would not fix it. Holy crap on a cracker.
Really I went for the glass. Canon has the biggest selection of glass of any mfg. and their glass is top notch

Canon's name (Kwanon Optical Co.) is derived from Quan Yin, the Buddhist goddess of compassion. Well, Quan Yin isn't necessarily a goddess, but has 53 or so manifestations. Sometimes she's a fishÂ…

Canon DSLR? No, thanks very much....'cause frankly I don't think I could bring myself to attempt to make photographs with something that looks that much like a potato without cracking up.
