that is if you have a previous version of CS (meaning CS3 or later) for everything. $29.95 everything. You evidently have made your mind up and are reading stuff that isn't there. You can get one app for $19.95 (not LR &PS because you wouldn't, we hope be that stupid) or the Photo bundle for $9.95 or everything for 49.95. IF YOU HAVE A PREVIOUS VERSION you can get the entire thing for $29.95.
You need to learn to read or at least comprehend. If you don't have a previous version, the its $10 for LR and Ps and 50 for all.
NO WHERE IN THERE DOES IT SAY SINGLE APP.

Apparently, you missed the part where I said, "in the cloud you can update or not. It keeps both pre and post copies of updated software so that if you need an earlier version, you can use it. All are on YOUR hard drive. You can delete the previous versions if you choose.. Key word here is YOU choose. But then if you choose not to do the cloud that is your choice too.. Since you are using Elements, then Lightroom is possibly more than what you are looking for.
Lightroom
is quite a bit more than
I would ever need. ;)
But backing up here... when I decide to buy into a software program, I have that saved on MY computer.
Then subsequent updates are saved as well. And then there is restore for those few despairing times when something needs rolled back to a simpler, or pre-troubled time.
The cloud concept is fine for those who need it. Some folks don't.
I'm one of those.
Are you a salesman for this cloud thing?

Do you believe that a CLOUD subscription means that the software is NOT on your computer?
I subscribed to CC, PS, BR & LR are installed on MY computer, all my photographs files are on MY computer....
It is sounding more and more like you are under the wrong impression... and NO I do not work for Adobe.

No I don't work for Adobe. Lightroom is downloaded and installed on MY computer. All of the previous updates are also on my computer. All of my images are on MY computer. Lightroom may be more than you need but that is your choice. But, I also don't like people giving bad or misleading information when they don't know what they are talking about. They are spouting innuendo and rumors rather than bothering to get the facts. If you choose not to do the cloud that is your choice, but don't make up stuff that is wrong wrong wrong and try to tout it as truth.

And, if Adobe wants to go to a monthly/yearly (and yes you do have the choice to pay an Annual fee instead of monthly for a 20% discount),
Is the CC Photography plan also discounted 20% for an annual prepayment, or is the discount only for someone subscribing to the full suite?

No it isn't Annual pay is 119.88 for a year and the monthly is 9.99 per month or 119.88 per year.
Here are the plans and prices.. click on the box for annual rather than monthly

Hi Don,
1. Nope. Never eluded to that either. They have to embed some sort of software or at least a cookie to identify your box-of-rocks.
2. OK, I'm sorry for you. BTW, all my stuff is on
my computer as well.
3. Not at all old boy. I'm a long time been around the Internet. Even before Al Gore invented it. And I've thrown away many programs I have used in the past for photography.
Including Adobe programs.
But a Friend of mine is trying Elements 12. So I thought I would, once again, try some Adobe programs out. ;-)
Now, a question for you, Don:
What makes you think I was even talking to you? :hunf:
Or do you normally just stick your foot in?
Enjoy your cloud. I enjoy not being in a cloud myself. ;)

That is the second time you spouted off in generalizations.
Care to get specific, you dolt?
If you want to stick a bag over your butt and fart, then stick it on your head please do.
And enjoy your cloud.

Since it is a PUBLIC FORUM, and you were going on in public, you get a public response.
:)

If I miss-spoke to you then I am sorry. I think I was combining what you were saying with what a couple of others were saying about the cloud. After re-reading your statements, if I understood correctly, all you use is elements and that's all you care to use. That is fine and is your decision. What I was taking exception to was the people saying that the cloud was bad and not going to be a good way to get software. Some are upset that Adobe is talking about not releasing a DVD version. My response was to lump all of the remarks together. For that I am sorry. Your reasoning is sound if the programs you use do what you want them to do. It was mainly the people complaining about the software living in the ether and you not having access unless you had internet access. And then, they were insisting on pricing issues that were from before Adobe had settled on the current scheme and stating them as fact.
Anyway. again I am sorry for lumping my remarks all together and giving the impression they were all about you.

And how is that different from Photoshop CC?

You bring to mind people who never update their AV software, then wonder why they have weird problems. Because they need someone to take care of them.
What somebody else does is really of little (no) concern to me.
If someone does not do routine update checks (I prefer automatic when available), then perhaps being cloud oriented is a good direction for them to go.
That way they can just pay for the updating to be done for them. No muss, no fuss. Bliss, even.
Where is anything I've posted "Bad or Misleading", David?
The Cloud is a good concept for a lot of people. Take my wife (Please) or her daughters family for an immediate example. They are folks "the cloud" was made for.
I have a Sister-In-Law who really should be in a cloud. Because she has more computer problems than a heifer with her first calf.
I happen to be of the other 80 percentile that manages fine when I'm not in a cloud. ;) In fact, I tend to stay completely outside the box.
You have a good time in your cloud though.

No you have missed the point, like just about every other piece of software on my computer I decide when to update Photoshop & Lightroom CC if and when updates become available. I will say however that updating CC via the CC app is a lot easier than if you do it all manually from Adobe's website
As far as I know the only time you wont be able to use your CC software (and your subcription is up to date) is if Adobe's servers are down at the time your Adobe software wants to confirm your subscription is paid. This happened to one of the guys at SLR Lounge and he made a big noise about it so hopefully Adobe has fixed that problem
