Do I believe in the supernatural? No. There has never been a case of supposed supernatural or spiritual phenomenon that has been PROVEN to have occurred. Throughout history the explanation for the then unknown has been god. It's an easy out. Puts our mind to rest. We don't have to think about it anymore. Problem solved.

I have never had an experience that I feel could never be explained by natural means. Ingrained religious dogma can interfere with progressive and creative thought. By the way, I find that you and Pepper are two of the most open minded Christians on this forum.

Thanks.

I have heard a man on the radio that was very honest about the debate "creationism vs evolution". One of the things he said is there are things on both sides that we can not explain.
It made me think that if we do not know we should just say so.
Our views are shaped by our experiences. That is why I asked if you had ever experienced anything like that.

No,no,no,no,and no. Next question?

If you need to get moral guidance from a book! Blimey, I've known right from wrong since I was a small boy. Been very anti-religious all that time to.

The book you so highly prize as "the truth the light and the way" shows without a doubt that your hero your god, he is a deceiver. He deceived that guy you know the one going for "Parent of the Year award" Abraham, told him to go up to the top of a hill and kill his child, knowing all along that he was not going to ask him to go through with it. That is the definition of deceit.
Go back further. Adam and Eve, the couple who bore the family of incest spawned humanity. Told them not to eat of the tree of life, because it would kill them. More deceit, the devil in the form of the snake spoke the truth then.
The whole book is deceitful.
Your whole belief system is base on you being hoodwinked. Now you have to find the personal strength to get over it, to see the world as all we have. There is nothing more. We need to stop this insanity from indoctrinating any more of our children. The future of the planet demands an end to the silly divisions we have. We need to ALL pull together to save our whole species.
WE ARE DOOMED. Because that ain't ever gonna happen. These religious nutters will never come out of the self-induced fugue like state they are in.

I wish you would learn how to use Quote reply. It is really a simple thing to do. Just point your mouse pointer over the word "Quote reply" and left mouse click. That way others will know to whom you are replying to.

Now, you are right. It ain't never gonna happen. It is a question of who is really being hood winked here. It just might be you who is being deceived.

Abraham had faith in God that if God had ask him to do this he would also give life back to his son based on the promise that God had made to him in his old age. How could he be the father of a nation if he took the life of his only son? Abraham was willing to trust God. The story is also a reflection of what God himself would do for mankind. He had ask Abraham to do what he would do for us, give his only son as a sacrifice. Maybe if you could read the story and see it's true meaning, then you can understand why we Christians will not give up our faith. Abraham was not deceived by God and neither is God deceiving you.

Let me sum up: The atheist says there is no god, but when asked what would change his mind, says that proof of said divine being would alter his viewpoint.

The theist says there is a god, but when asked what would change his mind, says that absolutely nothing would ever convince him of a world without his god.

Kind of tells you where we all are, eh?

Your belief and your thoughts,we all have right as now Obama is sure to take those away too,but we can believe as we choose and your opinion is just that, you have no proof of what you think either. I have always felt that If I choose to believe the bible and /god what a better way to live and principals to live by. And in case you are wrong better to be in that position than not. Let to each his own be the path,

you prefer to have our children given no knowledge of God or the bible, but its probably ok for them in you way of thinking to let them be exposed to all the evil world has to offer, same sex marriage drugs, not believing in anything having no hope and turning out empty. No morals. If we are wrong, all be well for you but if we are not, hate to be in your shoes

someone forgot to teach you kindness and politeness. Your way of thinking comes with a life without God. Your choice and I don't care, but don't put others down who do believe . Be and let be

Wow. In order to say that religion or the bible is the source of morals, you have to answer this question: What statement can you make as a person who presumes her morals from the bible or her deity that I, as an atheist, cannot make?

Where do you get that idea? The Bible says nothing like that.
You are making wrong conclusions. God created Adam and Eve first but not only them. It tells who their children were and their sons did not marry any of them.

As for the rest of your thinking I believe it is the wrong way to look at it. God tested Abraham.

The morals of the Christian is based on a bible that does not change, a law that can not Change, on a God that will not change.

Your morals are based on your own views that change with how you feel at the moment, on the views of others that might also change your views and by the views and laws of man that are not always right but are swayed by the views of society.

My point, exactly. There is absolutely nothing which will change your mind on the subject of the existence of a god.

That tells you how secure you truly are in your belief. Not very.
