No Sarge, you do NOT own it, you license it. That is what you say yes to when you install it - the License Agreement.

Another thread of mis-information. Photoshop alone is $10.00/month and you get improvements as they are ready. The $50.00 is for the whole suite and THAT is a real deal.

Speaking of misinformation, where are you seeing $10? :? The Adobe site says any single app is $19.99 (which isn't horrible) .

Yep, 10 bucks. well, not really - it is $9.99 for those who already own CS3 and later and JUST want Photoshop.

Yup. My bad on not communicating that option. Title stated Adobe Creative Cloud so I spoke about it as a whole. I still think its a pretty decent deal.

Darn right it is a good deal. Updates came along about every 18 months for $199. So now it is $180 for those 18 months and you get updates as they are ready, not every 18 months.

Of course you need to be a CURRENT owner of CS3 or later.

I find all the grousing and teeth gnashing quite amusing, really. For all those who will "never buy an Adobe product," or who think this is a terrible thing...bubye, seeya. Gimp is waiting. And all those Gimp fans tell us it is every bit as good as Photoshop, so why are you all complaining?

Not sure if the $9.99 is good after the first year. The promo says "Save 50% on your first year". Goes up to $19.99 after that?

Somewhere on the web site, it says that it will support CS6 for some time. I'm thinking of buying PS CS6 and running it until it doesn't work on OSX and Adobe drops support completely. I'll face the "cloud" then.

And this price is sure to go up every year. Adobe feels that they have us over a barrel now and can price any way they want. I will aim my learning curve toward another product. Maybe back to Paint Shop if they step in with a P.S. like product?

I live in the UK and the cost to purchase Adobe Creative Suite is between £1798 & £2398. My parents house cost less. I did seriously look at adobe cloud, but in the end just purchased PS Elements for £79.00. I would dearly love to own PS CS6 but just can't afford it.

I think adobe is doing two things. They are able to raise the cost of the programs. And Two it is away to cull the amateur from the professional. i am thinking the amateur photographer that tries to make a little money on the side will gradually fall off as the price of adobe continues to rise. there by leaning out the photo industry.

But the amateur photographers help support the fixed expense of paying for the expensive research and design of the complex programs. When Adobe thins out the amateurs using P.S. will they have the income from the "Pro" subscribers to support this overhead; or will they have to cut back on future program development?? Or; will they continue to "squeeze" the pros for more subscription money to replace the amateur support?? Once they drive off the amateurs, they won't come back, they are gone for good.

its all speculation on my part. but i feel the upgrades will slowly decrease and the price will increase. Once everyone is in the cloud i am not so sure they are gonna care as much about the development. i also think that every roughly 18 months a new enhancement came out, they changed the program. I think it takes that long to work most of the bugs out before they released it. if they could make those changes faster don't you think they would have, to keep the revenue flowing? I believe folks are gonna be surprised when the upgrades don't come as fast.

Right on Plus lightroom and elements still will be able to be bought. When I upgraded to LR4 I also subscribed to CC and feels that it is worth it. Not only I have LR, PS and other processing programs but also get Adobe Acrobat that I use all the time

I currently use elements. I have been taking a few classes, and spending a lot of time watching you tube tutorials, to learn all its features. I was about to make the jump to CS 6 when talk of the "creative cloud" began. I do not like the idea of subscribing to the service, any more than I would like to pay Canon a monthly rental on a camera I would never own.
Since I am nowhere near pushing the boundaries of elements, I'll stick with what I am using for now, and hope that someone like Corel will step up and fill the void.

There is another discussion about this from yesterday....but...as of now you can still purchase CS6 without the Cloud as of...(I just did about 2 months ago) they offered it thru the cloud, I said no thanks, I want to own it not lease it...but as you stated...you are only renting it going that route...
(monthly fee) to stay current. My fear now is will they continue support once everything is through "The F#$@Cloud").
I told the salesman I want to own the software and his reply was if you go though the cloud, and don't keep up the subscription, you will loose access to THE software. Notice I didn't say your software. A lot of companies are doing this...holding us hostage. I for one will look else ware should they stop support for MY software and force me to upgrade via The Cloud.

My understanding on this is after july they will no longer support upgrades to cs6. i believe they will upgrade the cameras as they come out, but other than that no more upgrades.
