I thought that if you don't continue to pay for the subscription the software you received from the CC will not work.

You don't have to update or upgrade any Open Source app. They still work forever. But, all apps, upgrades and updates are free and it's up to you.

You must have purchased your CS* software from Adobe to qualify. If you bought it on Ebay it does not qualify. To get Photoshop CC, LR + tools now you pay $49.99/mo.

New offer reduces it to $9.99 if you have CS3 or later. Need to sign up by 12.31.

I'm guessing that a significant portion of those who are miffed at this move by Adobe are using pirated versions and see the gravy train drying up.

After all...how does a person who has the cash to drop 650.00 on CS6 get upset at 19.00 a month (or 10.00 a month if they only use PS) as if it's a hardship?

Some of us got it with the student discount.

And I did, too. And then, computers crashed and there went the one installation that came with my CS3 program - on the teacher/student discount when I bought it. I don't have the $650 to pay for it now even if it came on a disc. And I'm simply not going to rent software.

I understand that viewpoint and shared it till this latest offer. Now I'm on the fence. Have till the end of December to decide.

My student discounted software came on CDs with keys. I no longer qualify for the student discount (I was actually a Professor) but recently bought the Lightroom 5 upgrade at normal upgrade price and, once I found my key, had no worries doing the upgrade. In other words they don't seem to identify whether keys were purchased with student discounts or not.

If I decide to try the new deal we shall see.

Simple solution: GIMP!
