I would say since this Camera can do 8 frames per sec, in raw It would be your best bet, and by the way I own the 7D as well

I love my 7D, but...

Things to consider:

The 7D tends to be noisy in the shadows, even at modest iso's. Mostly fixable, but be aware. The native iso for the 7D sensor seems to be 160, and multiples of that seem to give the best results. The camera has "pro" level of adjustments, and it may suffer from too many knobs for some people.

Canon is about to release a 70D which is rumored to have returned to the build quality of the 20-50D series. The other rumor is that the 7DMkII is being pushed up market as their "Pro" sports crop body (read as more expensive). If that's the way they go I'd expect dueling digic 5+'s, improved sensor, and maybe another card slot. Supposed announcement is fall of this year. All except the 70D imminent release is speculation however. I don't expect much change in the control layout, as both the 5DMkIII and 7D seem to be well liked there.

I have the 7D and it is the best camera I have ever owned. I shoot sports and wildlife and it's as good as it gets. You'd have to "pry it from my cold, dead fingers to get mine". HAve fun and keep shootin'. Mike

Pah! Except for the full frame the MkII is a major step backwards in FPS, speed and everything else! However I would definately wait until the 7D MkII is introduced which is soon.

Love my 7D, had it 2 yrs now and have taken about 20,000 pics with it.

It does very well with fast action subjects ( fast birds, race cars) and does well at high ISO as well.

Attached is a butterfly taken at 3200 ISO

While there is much to like on the dpreview.com site, the hardware forums tend to be inhabited by fanbois and the trolls that feed on them. I've hung out there and decided that there was more noise than signal, so I rarely go back.

I have 3 7d cameras
after looking at all of the canon line what each gives and what some take away (on camera flash) I think the 7d is a fab choice.
I take all three with me on all shoots..
a) so I'm not forced to change lenses outside
b) back up in case of a malfunction

I totally agree with Kjr.7007, I have a 7D & a 5D MkIII and the extra magnification with my 100-400 L makes a great combination with the 7D for sports and wildlife.

Confession of a Nikon user: I was at Costco today getting my tires rotated. With time to kill, I went to the camera section and picked up a 7D. Wow! If I were to switch brands I would need to have one of those and a 5D mkIII.

I moved up from a 30D to the 7D and couldn't be happier. I don't know off hand how big a difference there is between to 60D an the 7D. I have had my 7D for a year and a half and so far it is faultless. I wish it had come with its own remote, but the after market one I bought for the 30D works juast as well.
