I am considering adding the Canon 7D to my bag consisting of the following.
Canon D60, Canon 24-70mm 1:2.8 USM, Canon EF 70-200mm 1:4 L IS USM
Sigma DG 150-500mm 1:5-6.3 APO HSM. My thought is to use the 7d for sports and wildlife. The question is, is this a good choice or not? Thanks

I have a 7d and had a D60. They both work great for wildlife. The 7d has a lot of nifty menu options, and by all means get it if you want those options; but the only real advantage over the D60 that I can see for wildlife is its fast continuous-shoot mode.

mikeford45, I have had my 7D for about a month now and
just love it. I have a 24-105 L and a 100-400 L. I moved up from a T3i. The 7D has a lot of great features. Seeing that you are already a Canon man I think you will love it. mdh

Not sure what your budget is, but if you're going to add a body to your camera case and you have the 60D, wouldn't you consider spending a bit more for the 5D which is Full Frame. You can probably find a Mark II for a bit more than you'll spend for the 7D.

Good luck.

I shoot both Canon and Nikon, I was going to get 2 7Ds but the D7000 is better in my opinion so I bought two, however if you only have Canon lenses you will not go wrong with the 7D

EOS 7D MK2 ;)

If you shoot primarily sports and wild life, I'd recommend the 7D over a full frame 5D - reason - slightly faster frame rate, 1.6x crop factor adds to the focal length (your 70-200 is really 112-320) so you can get closer to the action. I have a 7D and a 5D Mk iii - both are fantastic, but I use the 7D for sports for the reasons noted above and use the full frame 5D for everything else (and sometimes for sports too)!

I am leaning toward the 7D selling the 60D and also adding the 5D Mk III.
Thanks, however this may take a year.

I bought a 7D the week it came out in Oct. 2009 and was so pleased and impressed I bought a second one some months after to keep a 70-200 2.8 on for closer subjects.

I use it for birds and other wildlife with what I feel are excellent results. It's super fast focusing and fast frame advance make it outstanding for sports and wildlife action.

Feel free to check my wildlife photo blog which I update daily for examples of what the 7D can do for photographing wildlife.

Hi, I presently shoot with a Canon 50D, and am considering the 7D myself. Only, I have heard Canon is upgrading the 7D to a 7D mark 2, later in the year. So, I'm awaiting to see what this new camera will bring to the table. I'm hoping better low light capabilities, WiFi, even faster burst rate, and faster focus. So far I've read that it may have a built in grip, larger battery, this leads me to believe it may be a cropped frame 1D with lots of new bells and whistles, maybe to many. The price will be factor as always.

You have invested a lot of money in good glass. The 7D is the best choice for sports photography, at 8fps it is great and the glass will work well. If you later get a 5D MK III the glass will sing even better. I have had a 7D for 6 months now and love it and my next purchase will be the 5D MK III. Get the camera, you won't regret it. Cheers
