mikeford45, I have had my 7D for about a month now and
just love it. I have a 24-105 L and a 100-400 L. I moved up from a T3i. The 7D has a lot of great features. Seeing that you are already a Canon man I think you will love it. mdh

That's funny. That almost my exact senerio. Just purchased 7D a month ago and my go-to lens is my 24-105L and
i have a 100-400L for wildlife. Only diff is I moved up from an old Rebel SI. I love the 7D. It's a machine gun!

I had the choice between a good used 1D Mk III from KEH and a refurb 7D - at roughly the same price. I went with the 1D and so far am very pleased.

You mean a 1D Mk III...10.1 meg, APS-H? Other than the frame rate, I'd have to ask why?

A thanks to all that replyed. I am going to wait until the new 7D is released and make a decision then. At that point the 7D may go down in price and I can compare.

Good decision. Since you already have a good camera why buy "old" technology. The only reason now or when the 7D MKii (rumored) to buy a 7D would be financial. If I were going to buy one now I would try the Canon Loyalty Program and get a refurb for around $815.

I love my 7D and I plan to upgrade to the 7D MKii assuming the specs make it worthwhile. I'm looking mostly for improvement in noise handling at higher ISOs and any other improvements will be gravy.

Not sure what your budget is, but if you're going to add a body to your camera case and you have the 60D, wouldn't you consider spending a bit more for the 5D which is Full Frame. You can probably find a Mark II for a bit more than you'll spend for the 7D.

Good luck.

Ditto, unless you know you won't ever want large blow-ups. Full frame provides much more ultimate resolution when you start to greatly enlarge -- not an uncommon need in sports and nature photography. Contact Canon USA @ 800 / 652-2666 re price and availability on factory refurbished 5D Mark II. They are warranted and more minutely gone thru than "new" on the shelf bodies. Can't go wrong with that product and price. Costs nothing to check it out. Worked for me -- and also with my over 6 year old 17 inch MacBook Pro that is still working faultlessly.

And if you do decide to go FF ask what FF cameras, if any, are part of the Canon Loyalty Program and save even more. It's my understanding that the 5DII has been in and out of the program.
