I would like to find a very simple photo editing software program, on cd-rom for Mac computer. Really it has to be very simple program because I have mental block when it comes to computers. I don’t like email formats. I take photos of my family and friends and some landscapes, I just want to improve the quality of my photos and erase unwanted images. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You're probably not going to find anything on CD's...not anymore.

For a simple editor you could try FastStone Image Viewer. It is free and does offer simple adjustments and it us easy to use. Here is the FastStone site:

Fast Stone Image Viewer is a good program. I have it and use it occasionally. But it is not as powerful as Elements.

"Mental block when it comes to computers?" I believe you can overcome that if you find someone who will help you of go to some class at your library or elsewhere. I have confidence you can do this.

If you are "too lazy" to learn another program then you are just SOL. What you want to do can be done relatively easy in LrC and/or Photoshop. But that can be a deep dive.

What a gentleman!

You would love Luminar XXX since it is designed for "busy people " who don't have time to learn so they let you boost AI to whatever turns your crank and volà.
Another option is to send your raw efforts to a member who would be happy to edit and give you feedback while on the task.

Luminar Neo. It's easy to learn and there are lots of tutorials. Forget about the CDs.

It's worth noting that both FastStone and IrfanView are Windows only software and neither of them has the ability to use masks and layers, which are required for some of the things the OP wants to do. Good programs otherwise.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is almost as powerful and the full Adobe Photoshop. It has three modes, Quick, Guided, and Expert. You can do all sorts of things with it in addition to bettering photos.

I also have On1 Photo Raw 2024. Lots of videos for more intense changes. But basics are great and easy to use.

Yes, you can purchase an OLDER version of Elements off ebay - I use version 9 and it is simple - but it sounds like you are looking for the bells and whistles of the later versions - like 15 +....? !

Drigby1 pretty much summed it up... Photoshop Elements is on Amazon contained on CD for 99.00. PS or ON1 can be used VERY easily on their respective opening page.... move 8-10 sliders and save file. How EASY is that .

Another alternative — made just for the Mac — is Photometer, which integrates with Mac Photos to give you a complete photo filing/editing package. There is a trial period, so it costs nothing to test.
