This is the one I included in my post a few back.

I tried it yesterday and yes, it does seem to want to use the Photos app on the Mac. It uses that as its catalog, I think. It's an award winner, btw. For a Mac user, the integration may be an advantage.

Two suggestions, although both are extremely powerful programs.

1. Luminar Neo
2. ON1 Photo RAW

While both programs will do a lot more than you are asking for, I recommend these two as each has the capability of improving your photos with one click or the movement of a single slider. In other words, there is simplicity within the confines of two very powerful programs.

There are many helpful YouTube videos so if you wish to gradually learn more about these software post-processing programs, there is plenty of room for growth.

My post is been several days old, since then I had taken the advice from one of our friends here and I purchased the Adobe photoshop elements 11. I was very excited and I tried to install it immediately, it comes with windows/Mac OS cd. I have a Mac mini with plenty of rams. Because I had an old elements editing software (about 8-10 years) it’s been impossible to install this software. I’m very frustrated and I have made my wife’s life miserable (just kidding).

Programs do not come on CD-ROM in 2024. They are downloaded from the Internet. If your Mac has a CD-ROM built into it, it is probably too old to run any modern software. Be sure to check the system requirements* for any software you want to install, BEFORE buying it.

*Memory (RAM), Storage (SSD or hard drive), Processor family, Operating System version...

Apple made RADICAL hardware changes in 2020. They dumped Intel processors in favor of their own. While the current versions of most software still run on both Intel Macs and Apple Silicon Macs, SOME new software is Apple Silicon only, and some older Mac software will not run at all on the new Macs.

PS: Parallels is a Win11 operating system that is available for MacOS. I believe you could run IrfanView or FastStone on that. However, there is a subscription fee for that program on MacOS, so although IrfanView and FastStone are freeware, there will be a cost to implement them on the Mac.

Parallels Desktop is emulation software, and it is a subscription now. Windows 11 FOR ARM is what runs in Parallels Desktop on modern M-series Macs. Regular Windows 11 runs natively OR in Parallels on Intel Macs.

I would check with the software vendor to be sure they have tested Irfanview or FastStone running in Windows 11 for ARM on an M-series Mac. Not everything has been re-written or re-compiled for Windows for ARM. Get the details... before installing Parallels and Win11 for naught.

I have run Irfanview using parallels but have not done thorough testing. There are features I don’t use so I haven’t tried them. I don’t use faststone regularly since it came out long after I worked Irfanview into my workflow.

If you’re using a Mac , I think it’s better to use an app that is supported by MacOS
