True to internet form, this thread displays ads for tattoos.

Now we have from Allure.Com the comprehensive guide to facial piercings.

Is "Body Painting by the numbers" forthcoming?

Fortunately, I don't see any of those.

A story that will probably be distorted by time as ones body ages.

I always wonder what those 20's something young ladies will think of their tattoos when they are in their 60's and the tattoos have faded and distorted to the point where they are unrecognizable?

I won't, but go ahead if it trips your trigger.

Yes, it's a new phenomena ... mankind has only been doing it for 5000+ years.

I don't mind a small tattoo on a female's ankle or shoulder but in my opinion, it has gone too far. I hate seeing a female with a really beautiful body covered neck to toe with tattoos. I like seeing the beauty of pure unadulterated acres of skin! A few years ago it seemed heavily tattooed women were usually overweight or homely looking. Now it seems I see more and more beautiful women with way too much tattooing. I guess I'm looking at this mainly from a photography standpoint. A local photographer has models take off all jewelry other than small earrings. He claims excess jewelry is distracting and takes away from the natural beauty of the model. The heavy tattooing is even worse.

I agree. I believe God made woman perfect. Tattoos are like graffiti on a church wall.

A young woman that calls me dad has several, not outrageous but noticeable tattoos. She tells her young sons to never get one.

I once saw a young man with a little child’s hand tattooed on his shoulder along with a birth and death date a couple of years apart. I may not like tattoos but I did find that one appropriate.

I’ve seen some stunning artwork of skulls, skeletons and demons painted on motorcycle gas tanks. I can appreciate the talent that went into it but no way would I ever put something like that on my tank.

I raised my children with several unbreakable rules including never get on a motorcycle and never get a tattoo. They never got one and I am very happy about that. Never were they to smoke also.

I have seen "art decor" of all types on a diverse group of people. Personally, I do not like tattoos because it is scarring the body. I do enjoy body paintings. Unfortunately, too often it is like seeing the spray-paints that do little to accentuate the body, or the wall. (Again, IMO.) But I have seen the impressive Art that has been done. And these were/are extremely rare. (Sidenote: Body painting done by groups are very popular with nudists.)

I have known women who bore their tattooed numbers on their arm to declare their surviving the Nazi Concentration Camps. I also have know many of them who got rid of their tattoos, deeming them to be signs of slavery. I appreciate both for their desires.

As to my "vote", I oppose the scarring of the body.

As someone who carries scars I did not want, I prefer the tattoo I chose and I'm thinking of a second. The first is a pink triangle fabric patch on my left chest, the one I'm thinking of is of the Black Knight standing on one leg with "Tis but a scratch" under it and there is one more after that, of a bony finger on my right calf pointing to my left stump with "one foot in the grave" under it.

To be honest, I find this whole thread kind of creepy, troubling, etc., a bunch of men discussing what they don't like that women do to their bodies.

A tattoo on any girl is not like a bumper sticker on a Ferrari; it’s like graffiti on a Bentley, but you can’t repaint the girl !
