I don't mind a small tattoo on a female's ankle or shoulder but in my opinion, it has gone too far. I hate seeing a female with a really beautiful body covered neck to toe with tattoos. I like seeing the beauty of pure unadulterated acres of skin! A few years ago it seemed heavily tattooed women were usually overweight or homely looking. Now it seems I see more and more beautiful women with way too much tattooing. I guess I'm looking at this mainly from a photography standpoint. A local photographer has models take off all jewelry other than small earrings. He claims excess jewelry is distracting and takes away from the natural beauty of the model. The heavy tattooing is even worse.

It will reveal that I am an older man probably no longer in the mainstream of popular thought but it has long been my firm opinion that I have never seen a girl, lady, or woman whose appearance, attractiveness or demonstration of good decision making has been improved by the addition of a tattoo. Actually the same goes for men. I often find myself dumbfounded that people seem to add random, often ugly, tattoos just here and there. I am sure that this will not find a lot of resonance among the younger hoggers.

The only tattoo I found admirable was one of an Olympic participant. If memory serves he had it done right after he made the team for that upcoming Olympic Games. It was small and done on the inner surface of his upper arm. It was the 5 Olympic Rings. l thought that was appropriate.

I can understand your point. Tattoos, can sometimes be extremely well done and a fine form of artwork. Being of Jewish descent, it is frowned upon as desecration against
G-D’s creation. When my son passed away, I grew angry at the Creator of all things. Shortly afterwards, my wife and I had tattoos placed. I have a tattoo on my chest above my heart of a small boy blowing bubbles in a field of grass. Using his handwriting his name and the words “I love you” were recreated. My wife has a similar tattoo on her wrist. I lost my 20 year old son 8 years ago. And each day I try to live life and remember his smiling face. I have been asked by my friends what will I say to the Creator.

When G-D asks me, “Why did I desecrate my body?” I will ask Him, “why did you desecrate my soul?” Now I just wait.

Tattoos are a form of expression and tell a story. I don’t find it ugly but an opportunity to inquire of the person and learn more of person and make a new friend.

In point, none of us can impose our beliefs, ideas ideologies, and just a chance to share a grow to be better than we already are.

I applaud you for what you did. I would imagine God would understand that too.

Luckily, we don't have to get a vote from other snobby opinionated mean people as to whether we should get a tattoo or not.

Why would you automatically assume people are mean just because their opinion of tattoos is different than yours? Should I think you’re mean if you object to someone not getting tattoos?

Tattoo wearers forget that they will age, their skin will change, their weight may change and of course there is differential changes in the depth and quality of the different inks. It is amazing that these things are ignored by a lot of folks.

Have you read the comments in this thread?
Some of them are mean, nasty and ignorant.

Tattoos are a personal choice, but I don't really like seeing them on females. All women are beautiful in their own way, and tattoos on them are like graffiti on the Mona Lisa.

Does that also apply to lipstick, rouge, eyeliner, etc.? Or only to tattoos?

Sure does! But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No insult was meant to anyone with tattoos.

Mac: Why don’t you point out all the comments that are “mean, nasty, and ignorant?”
This is the modern disease- if you don’t like what someone thinks of your behavior, you have the right to silence them by imputing to them malevolent motivations.
I hate tattoos- I think they’re a form of self-mutilation and self-hatred. Did I say anything like Scruples mentioned about “imposing” my will on anyone?

Absolutely not. Not any at all. They are 99.97% NOT art, just mediocre drawings by mediocre talents. There are a few exceptions who are truly talented but that doesn't belong on skin either. They do not enhance and improve the wearer. For the very VERY few lucky ones they aren't horrible. But for the rest they are horrible. What are the odds of being rejected for not having a tattoo? What are the odds of being rejected for having stupid, ugly tattoos?
