That’s a ridiculous analogy. More apt would be trading your old sedan in on something with anti-lock brakes, built in nav system and improved fuel economy.

Not to mention the fact that the fins on 59 Chevys could actually produce lift going around curves under certain conditions. BTW, 59 was one of the few years in that era that I believe Ford outsold them…

I’m getting ready to put my D500 up for sale, (probably later today). I’ll be entirely mirrorless once it’s gone.

What are you thinking of asking for it? Will it go on the UHH for sale list?

Will Crockett said 15 years ago the camera industry is going Mirrorless!

Will loaned me a Lumix G3 and three lenses for a month in 2012. I was hooked on Mirrorless, but held off until 2015.

Of course, Will was ahead of his time. He was pushing "talking portraits" a year later. Those were short web clips made by a portrait photographer and combined with stills. The client got a link...

Now if we could just get Apple to partner with a camera company and make a computerized full frame interchangeable lens camera with a slot for an iPhone…

All of this rushing to buy the latest and the very best kinda reminds me of the time you HAD to have tail fins on your car. Didn't enhance your ability to drive...

Only at very high speeds.

It makes me laugh watching amateur photographers lust after the latest and greatest new thing, following the herd, on some level (just below the surface) assuring themselves it will make them better at what they do. (Spoiler alert: It won't.) Amateur golfers do the same ... just ask the manufacturers.

I can verify that. My son worked in a pro shop/driving range/golf academy for a year, selling clubs to folks who always wondered why they scored about the same with the $400 driver in their bags as they did with the kit driver from Walmart... They were better off spending money on lessons from the pro who owned the place, then practicing on the driving range and local courses!

KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE produce ABILITY. Buying a new hammer won't make me a carpenter. Buying me a new set of pots won't make me a better cook. Oh, the new tools might be more fun to use than the old ones, but it takes more than the new tool to make something special.

Typical naysayer. Popping up every time someone brings up new cameras. I got great photos from my D500. Before that with my D7200, my D7000, all the way back to my D40. I now get great shots from my Z7 and my Olympus E-M1X. I don’t upgrade cameras because I think they’ll improve my photography, (although the AF and frame rate of the Z9 I’m getting will make it easier), I upgrade because the cameras I upgrade to have features I want and enjoy using.

No, it is trading in your old car with an analog dash for a digital dash. Still gets the same gas milage.

What's your problem with those of us who have chosen to not make the move to mirrorless? Yes, mirrorless may be the latest, and possibly the greatest, but dslrs work fine for many of us. I looked into mirrorless and found absolutely no reason to make the move.

You've made your point in the past. We know you prefer mirrorless. That's find for you but you don't need to act like a missionary converting the natives. Enough already. You are getting tiring.
