NikonRumors is reporting today that the D500 is being listed as backordered, not available or discontinued at sellers around the world.

There is some speculation that Nikon may be nearing the release of a high end Z cropped camera...emphasis on speculation.

Such a camera would fit the description of the possible Z90 that Thom Hogan talked about in a recent article.

No need to call out for that. It’s already got 3 feet in the tar pit and the 4th foot on a banana peel.

Doesn't matter, I recently purchased a used one. It's not going to stop working.

From what I know the Nikon D500 is an excellent tool, specially for wildlife and action photography. If you want one I am sure you can get it in the second hand market if things become complicated.
Mirrorless cameras are here to stay but they are not for everybody.

All of this rushing to buy the latest and the very best kinda reminds me of the time you HAD to have tail fins on your car. Didn't enhance your ability to drive...

What's your problem with those of us who have chosen to not make the move to mirrorless? Yes, mirrorless may be the latest, and possibly the greatest, but dslrs work fine for many of us. I looked into mirrorless and found absolutely no reason to make the move.

You've made your point in the past. We know you prefer mirrorless. That's find for you but you don't need to act like a missionary converting the natives. Enough already. You are getting tiring.

Damn!

I've never got tail fins.

Hope they do a comeback!

When they stop having sales it's when they discontinue it. They would stop the production, keep the normal price, selling the relatively slowly until they run out.

That’s a ridiculous analogy. More apt would be trading your old sedan in on something with anti-lock brakes, built in nav system and improved fuel economy.
