I've been watching camera reviews and comparisons on YouTube, and I have to be careful. The new cameras sound so good! I especially like comparisons because they point out specific differences between two cameras. So far, I have resisted the urge to buy anything. I still use my D750, Sony a6000, and Fuji X-T30. So far, so good. Unless I find a good excuse to buy something new, I think I'll be safe.

So the question is what do you do with all the lens you accumulated with the great camera's you have?

Wow Jerry a perfect storm of good camera choices. congratulations! I had Nikons
Not so happy with Nikon D800 (wanted to use for video and stills) had two sold them. Bought Sony NEX and loved it.That started a series of Sony's great camera's a6000,6300 a7 series up to the a7s II which I kept. Recently sold some and funded Fuji X-T3 with lens 16 to 80 great holiday price. Then a Fuji S10.And mostly 3rd party cheap lens.
Still have a couple of Nikon lens around. I was working doing some paid work sometimes. That funded my camera crazy. The Fuji kit is just amazing.

Couldn’t agree more. My heirs can figure out what to do with the Jaguar roadster after I’m gone. Maybe I’ll buy a coupe and compound the issue. I already have a full-frame, crop-frame, mirror less and super zoom - there must be something I’m lacking?

Yes you are lacking a digital medium format kit. And don’t bother with Fuji or Pentax go straight to top and get the Hasselblad!

Thanks for the push. A few more of these, and I'll start shopping.

Especially if you just keep adding to pile - slow GAS! When you pass the the other world will your family have a camera estate sale? :)

The manufacturers are good at getting the cameras out to the people to review for their brand. And manufacturer's sales tempt one to GAS. I have been tempted by the price sales on both the Olympus E-M1X and E-M1 mkIII. The artificial intelligence of the E-M1X and the image stabilization (over the E-M1 mkII) and star focus of the E-M1 mkIII is quite draw. But I am waiting for the next sale on the 12-100 f4 Pro IS lens and/or new 33mp camera of the E-M1 class body. But it is still hard to wait. Sometimes, like you say, one needs to be happy with what they have and use it - until one can get what they really want or need.

My two cents. I wanted to upgrade either my Fuji XT1 to an XT4 or my Canon 70d to a 90d, I also had a 5d Mark II but then I started watching videos and posting here asking for opinions. Short story I watched videos on the new R Series from Canon. One morning I woke up and thought life is too short the Canon R6 will be the one for me. With that said I went right to the local Hunt's Camera in Providence, RI and bought that new baby. My only regret was I should have ordered the R6 with the 24-105 RF f/4 lens but I didn't. A few weeks later I bought the 24-105 f/4 and couldn't be happier. I sold my 70d, 5d Mark II and a few EF-S lenses to help fund my purchase. I'd do it again I have no regrets. I kept the Fuji XT1 but haven't used it recently but I'm sure when I really want to pack light it will be the camera I take with me.

I LOVE ALL CAMERAS, I just love buying cameras, playing with them for a while - and then I sell them if needed. It's ok,.... they don't eat, they don't ever need to go to the veterinarian, they don't poop on the carpet, and they don't require a babysitter. So let yourself buy a new camera!!! Who cares

Well said…lots of wisdom in your post!

Have spent thousands on camera equipment thinking it would make me a better photographer. Realised you cant buy the eye for a great shot it comes with practice or so I'm told.

Photography is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you have to buy the best equipment.

I am not sure about wisdom but it’s definitely common sense.

And these days ‘common sense is commonly uncommon’. - Aristotle

When it comes to reading/watching camera reviews, keep in mind that not all reviews are completely honest. There are professional reviewers who will make every camera appear amazing so that the companies will continue to supply them with demo cameras for review. Shortcomings of the product are either downplayed or ignored.

NO!!! Say it ain’t so!! Ok I’m being facetious here.

You make a very good point.

I would argue that anyone who receives any kind of entitlement or pay from a company, cannot be unbiased. This is a conflict of interest and any writer who does not disclose this up front, is being dishonest with her (or his) readers. However I fear this is common.

So the only time you know for sure is when a writer or reporter, states unequivocally, that they do, or do not, have no relationship with xxx company. If it’s not stated the safe assumption is that a relationship exists.
