Hi sumloc,
We use a couple of Nikon D7200 and an 18-400 Tamron stays on our work/field camera. We seldom have to turn to one of our many Nikon lenses and we have all of those you mentioned. The 18-400 is a great every day, get-it-done lens. Take care & ...

I finally upgraded to a Nikon D7500 and I would like to know opinions about these three lenses. Nikon 70x300 any of the 3 styles, Nikon 18 x300, Tamron 18x400. I have a Nikon 18 x200 vr and I'm very satisfied with it. I'd like some extra reach and still get some good sharpness. Thanks in advance.

I'm late to the game here but don't support the 70-300 for your 7500. If this is going to be your main walk about lens, the 70mm on the wide end means your going to have to carry another lens most of the time for anything not in the telephoto range. 70mm is kind of long on a DX. I use the Nikon 18-300 (the more expensive 5.6 version) on my D7500. the only problem is that it is not tack sharp at 18mm, but the tiniest shift to about 20mm solves that problem. It's sweet spot of one stop down from wide open, which is not bad for a lens with a long zoom range. If my lens range started at 70mm, I would always have to throw in something wider when out and about.
If I need speed and razor sharp I pull out my professional lenses, but they are heavy for a walk in the woods with the dogs. I'm not quite sure why everyone is so gung-ho on the 70-300. I took this shot on Monday last week with the 18-300. It looks good as a 17x25 inch print now hanging on my wall. (This is a whale called Barnacles, who put on quite a show for us.)

My wife uses the 70 to 300 ED vr af-p dx version. Quite light and remarkably sharp (opinion from a picky zeiss guy).

I have the same AF-P version and am surprised by the quality of pics.
Make sure it is compatible with your camera.

AF-P 70-300, full frame. It's excellent.

Go with the full frame Nikon 70-300 AF-P. Much sharper, better AF, and better built than the DX model. Well worth the extra money.

I think that photographers always want more reach. Since you already have the 18-200, consider the Nikkor 200–500. It is a great lens for the price. But it all depends on what you want to photograph and how much weight you want to lug around.

Beware the non VR version of the 70-300mm AF-P. They are commonly available used at very low prices. You really want the VR with a lens of that length.

Actually the non VR version is a very sharp lens when used with a faster shutter speed. I take mine to the auto races and the images are excellent. No complaints from me.
