I finally upgraded to a Nikon D7500 and I would like to know opinions about these three lenses. Nikon 70x300 any of the 3 styles, Nikon 18 x300, Tamron 18x400. I have a Nikon 18 x200 vr and I'm very satisfied with it. I'd like some extra reach and still get some good sharpness. Thanks in advance.
I have a Nikon D7100. I have the Nikon 18-140, Tamron 17-55 and the Tamron 18-400. The 18-400 seldom ever comes off my camera. I find the range good for about anything I shoot, and the quality is acceptable to me.
I’ve gotten really good results with the Tamron 18-400. It’s the most virtual lens you good ever get. I am pleasantly surprised at how good this lens is.
Thanks everyone. I ended up purchasing the Tamron 18x400 to go with the D7500.
I have the Tamron 70-300. I pixel peep occasionally and at the far end where it can dicey with sharpness, it is excellent. The 18-400 has some compromises in image quality, color rendering, and sharpness that I felt I could not live with over such a broad range that I don't find with my copy of the 70-300.
When I was shooting with a 7500 my 2 favorite lenses were the Nikon 16-80 f2.8-4 and the Tamron 18-400.

Sounds good! Let us know how you like it. May pick up one for the extra reach as well. Would be curious to know if at say at 18mm and 200mm you feel it is sharper than your Nikon18-200mm.
I will definitely let you know. Thanks
I don't have a D7500 but shoot a D7200 with my walk around lens a Tamron 18-400. Acceptably sharp for snap shot type work. Good lens with excellent reach. I recommend it.
