There are several, although doomsday-ish scenarios that could result in our country falling to a foreign power, for example, an EMP weapon could be used against us preemptively. Our guns and ammo (low tech) would be a major deterrent against invaders arriving with intact technology.

They're also a deterrent to our government. It would be extremely hard to mount a cultural revolution in this country unless our guns were already gone.

There is a lot of gun violence in our country, but the recent rise is easily attributable to a systemic program to let crime go unpunished. That is a liberal issue.

The difference John is that in America with the Left Wing anti gun politicians there is no real sensible gun regulation. For many years there has been a talk from the Left of taking guns away from citizens even though the 2nd Amendment forbids such action. You might be aware there are over 25,000 gun laws on the books already. Yet many of those laws are not enforced. Don't ask me why. I have no idea. I can tell you that many of the laws are only meant to keep law abiding citizens from having firearms. Not one of the laws does anything to stop criminals from having or obtaining firearms. Criminals do not generally purchase firearms in a gun store as do honest citizens.

You might be aware of Hunter Biden, President Biden's son, who purchased a firearm from a gun store but lied on the Federal Form 4473. Lying on that form is a felony charge of perjury. Over 60,000 people violate that law every year. Yet ATF does nothing to prosecute the offenders. Please explain to me why they do not. That law is set up to stop criminals from purchasing firearms. As a drug abuser Hunter Biden is prohibited from owning firearms. And yet he does. Is there a reason to enact even more anti gun laws when those we have are not enforced?

Another example: A felon is prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition. It is illegal, a felony, for ex felons to even touch a firearm. Yet it often happens that an armed felon is caught in the act of a burglary or theft. In order to have a speedy trial the District Attorney will drop the charge of felon in possession of a firearm and charge the felon with perhaps a simple trespassing charge. The felon gets a reduced sentence, the District Attorney can spout off that he has a high conviction rate for his next election speech and the criminal walks away after maybe a short term in a county jail rather than a state prison where he belongs. Once again, why even have laws that are not enforced except for honest citizens of let's say someone who feels threatened and starts carrying a handgun because he thinks his neighbor is out to get him.

Our Left Wing fools have been wanting to confiscate or other wise do away with AR and AK platform rifles. Even though these exact rifles have a very minimal impact on crime the Left still wants to put on a big show of getting rid of them. Why is that John? Why the HUGE display of anti semi automatic rifles when similar rifles have been popular in America since the late 1800's. Perhaps you can explain that to all of us. Minimal use in crime statistics and yet the Left wants to get rid of these two rifle types. Why.

Now I get you are not a gun person. But you can be a sometimes common sense person. So put away your anti gun bias and explain to us why the Left wants to take away something that does no or very minimal harm.

To add to your excellent remarks let's not forget the British clearly wanted to disarm Americans so they could force unlawful threats against colonists, higher taxes on everything, British military quartered in private homes, searches whenever the British wanted and so on. When the British tried taking our firearms at Lexington Concord Bridge we killed them.

Democrats are like the modern King George lll who want to take power from We the People. The Left Wing Attic dwellers will tell us that is a lie but the reality of it is it is not a lie. It is the absolute truth. Take a look at what the Left Wing is actually doing/done for a couple of years now. Freedom of Speech has given way to the Leftist, Hate Speech. If they do not like what you say against the government it is called Hate Speech. No more First Amendment. They want to make it possible for Antifa and BLM to demonstrate in non peaceful manner. But the Constitution gives people the right to Peacefully Assemble. Rioting, looting and arson is not Peacefully assembling. The Left wants to do away with the 2nd Amendment by taking away legally owned firearms by honest citizens while doing nothing to keep firearms from criminals.

This is the modern day Left Wing that wants to change much of America to suit their agenda.

John you really should pay attention. There are already reports of Mexican military vehicles that have crossed our Southern border. Yes that is illegal and should be stopped. But I don't see our military down there, do you?

Let's not forget that in any war it is still the foot soldier, armed civilian that can still do some damage. No we can't fight nuclear weapons but if something does happen to threaten America don't you think there would be one hell of a lot of armed civilians to do our part? Besides, even if we eventually lose don't you think my country is worth fighting for TO ME? I hate to say this but honestly I do not see you and Kracken fighting for your country. I mean no offense but people in countries like yours who do not have the freedoms Americans have are seemingly more willing to give up freedoms for safety and not being killed. Most American Conservatives are the complete opposite. Even at 75 years old I would be more than willing to do my part to kill an invading enemy. YOU?????
