But it is if you'd have listened to Bugs and turned left at Albuquerque. (Sorry I couldn't resist) BTW, you've been given some really sweet places to visit. I can vouch for a number of them. If you're into boat rides and small places there's Tangier Island, but I'm not sure if they have COVID restrictions. Have a safe and fun trip.

I suggest that you check out Providence Canyon State Park, in southwest Georgia, Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon”....it actually is “on the way to Florida”....you will be able to take great photos...and not a lot of people even know about it.

One suggestion: Type in your browser: "Things to do in (name of place)." This search will return a boatload of info. Enjoy your road trip with camera.

Most likely you will take Interstate 75 south which travels through East TN where I live. A visit to the Smokies would be great and is always a great place for a photographer to visit. While there in east TN, a visit to Biltmore in Asheville would only be a short detour over the mountain. It is always a great place and again, great for photographers.

Back on Interstate 75 going south, stop in Chattanooga and visit the Civil War battleground there on Lookout Mtn. On a clear day, there are great views from the overlooks atop the mountain.

Traveling on into Georgia, check out OLD CAR CITY in White, GA. They have hundreds if not thousands of old cars stored on their property. Movie buffs, photographers, collectors from all over the world go there to see and photograph the old cars. Google them and check out their website. Of course Atlanta has many things to see, such as the Georgia Aquarium and other venues built around the Olympic park.

Of course once you reach Florida, there is almost an unlimited number of things to see and photograph. Normally my wife and I spend our winters in FL but decided to stay home this year. But Florida has areas that will please almost any photography interest.

However, all these activities may be limited by Covid, so check them out first. Have a great trip.

AAA saved me 100s for what to how to get there, camping, about what you need on the road to do it. For over night park Walmark or shopping center under a light in back of the parking lot. I would love to be back on the road but my back got me, enjoy anGODbless

I believe just before the entrance for Shenandoah NP are caverns. I was there in the late 80's & imagine it is still there. Also Great Smokey Mountain NP. , W.V. & the western side of the Carolinas are loaded with waterfalls. I don't imagine the Smithsonian Museums in DC are open now but you can check. If you want to go coastal Assateague Island Nat Seashore &, Chincoteage Wildlife Reserve are close together & usually wild horses are easy to photograph as well as other wildlife should be available. If you coastal not far below these , is the Outerbanks Barrier Islands. Check out google earth maps just to start with. Have fun & travel safe.

If you haven’t seen a lot of the east coast I would head over to Chincoteague & Assateague Island VA, and then travel the coast to Florida.
Outer Banks NC
Charleston SC
Hilton Head SC
Savannah Ga
Tybee Island GA
You did say “can take as long as I want”
Good luck, God bless and be careful and take a more direct way home.

They get my vote. You could swing by NYC, head south from there, Chincoteague, is on my list, oh a side trip to Maine and Acadia National Park. Breakfast time, bet I could come up with some more on the east coast after coffee.

Lots of good suggestions for side trips but if you want to stay on course here a few suggestions: downtown Indianapolis from the park on the NW side of the downtown area, Nashville at night and of course the country music downtown, Chattanogga from the mountain, Atlanta, Okefenoke Swamp, Jacksonville, Amelia Island, St. Augustine, Alligator farm and bird sanctuary, etc etc etc.

I would love to do that but in the pandemic I don't feel good either staying at hotels or eating out.

If I were taking that trip, I'd stay off of the interstates as much as possible. I did that for my two road trips to California; I was able to take photos other people didn't; I saw small towns that were photogenic. I used the interstates to get through large cities, but got off of them as soon as possible.
