Content and Composition-- This is the finest photograph I've seen on this site. Powerful and Serene
Great shot. I have never been to Washington DC to visit that memorial; I know I will find the names of several of my high school classmates on it. There is a memorial in Marseilles, IL; that memorial is in honor of those fallen heroes during the Gulf Wars. I visit it regularly. What I would like to visit is the memorial for the fallen heroes of the Normandy Invasion because my dad was part of that moment in history.
Thanks for the download version, makes you feel like you are there.
Very well done photo of a very special and important memorial.
This is the Gulf War Memorial in Marseilles, IL, not the best shot and was taken with my cell phone. The second shot is an abandoned box printing plant in the vicinity; I shoot the box plant when I want to test a new lens or lens/camera combo; there is a lot of detail that I reference when testing a lens there.
Stunning Richard, all the more so for SOC. Was there in the mid-nineties, saw classmates names and paused longer than anticipated. A co-worker had asked me to trace her brother’s name, which not to sound too melodramatic, I did with as much reverence as I could. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! Was in Viet Nam parts of !966-1968.
Definitely worth the patience to take 30 shots or even more. Great image
