I love Peak Design Slide straps. I first got it for my Canon 5D M3 and I liked it so much that also bought a more narrow model for Olympus OM-D E-1. Very easy to adjust and disconnect if needed.

I carry my 5DmIV with the 100-400 with a Peak Design Slide strap and it's very comfortable. I use the dual plate on the anchor mount so I can attach it to the "tripod mount point" on the camera so I can quickly attach it to my tripod (when needed) and it hasn't disappointed yet. Most importantly, the strap is very comfortable, the attaching anchors are more than durable enough for heavy equipment, and it's relatively cheap.

The Slide comes with multiple configuration options, including an underside anchor.

Okay Hedgehoggers, I need some help. I just bought a Pentax K1 Mk ii with battery grip. Beautiful camera but damn it’s heavy to be hanging around my neck all day on the chinsy strap that came with it. So, please suggest a better shoulder strap option. I’ve researched a bunch and it seems like a lot of them hang by the tripod mount-hole...this doesn’t seem like a great place to suspend all that weight. Thoughts? Thanks in advance, all.

I would NEVER trust my camera to a strap that attaches by ONLY the tripod mounting socket.

I've used OpTech straps for years. Some of the ones they offer are wide and have lots of padding. Saves a lot of neck strain when toting around heavy gear. By the way, I've been a Canon Pro Services member and they occasionally send out promotional items... a couple times it's been a strap imprinted with the Canon logo.... And it's been an OpTech strap! (I guess even Canon knows the limitations of their OEM straps!)

Widely available at the major online retailers, there's more info about the straps (and other stuff) OpTech offers here: https://www.optechusa.com/

I think the model of strap I usually use is The Reporter. They have quick release that allows the strap to be removed easily, if wanted. (They also sell little Velcro safety straps to keep those quick releases secure from accidental release... Highly recommended! Edit: I just looked at their site... they call these "Secure-Its". They are designed to fit their standard quick releases, not the "mini". But, they could probably be cut down with scissors to fit the smaller connectors, if wanted. I don't know for certain because none of my straps use the "mini" QR connectors.)

I've got their straps on at least a half dozen cameras, several shoulder bags, a couple tripod bags and two big telephotos that have their own strap mounting lugs.

They offer a number of different types of fasteners, to accommodate virtually any type of camera strap mounting. With the quick release versions, in some cases you can even get the short strap that attaches to the camera separately, so could potentially use the same strap with a number of different cameras (though at the reasonable cost of buying a complete strap, I'm not sure why you'd do that).

I've been using them on some pretty heavy gear for at least fifteen years and never had an OpTech strap fail.

BTW, I've got a bunch of brand new, unused OEM Canon straps still in their original plastic wrapping. I stopped using them (shoulder and neck problems, probably from four decades hauling around camera gear). The last six or eight cameras I've bought over the years, I've bought an OpTech to use with them right from new. The only camera I use now without an OpTech is a small, recently purchased APS-C mirrorless that, with a lens mounted, weighs about the same as one of the battery grips on my DSLRs! I bought it used and haven't gotten around to replacing the strap... might not need to since it's so light weight.

P.S. I also use OpTech's Rain Sleeves and Hood Hats. I've got their straps on a couple rifles and a shotgun, too.

For my money the UpStrap is the best for the buck. I use the Medium X Sure-Grip Pad + Suck Release + Kevlar Web Ends as pictured on all my Nikon and Hasselblad's. The best thing is the two-sided pad: one side smooth and one side ribbed to grip on cloth. This strap just does not slip even on a nylon rain jacket.

Sold by a guy in Florida and possibly by B&H although I always buy direct from the company.

Check out Op/tech. I like their spongy soft strap that is very comfortable. Buy an "L" bracket and attach the strap to that. Mine is anchored at the bottom from the "L" bracket and from the top through the regular strap ring. This allows the camera to hang at my side in a vertical position and allows me to bring the camera up quickly to a shooting position. I also get the strap that has a disconnect close to the point where it is hooked to the camera. I then can use an Op/tech wrist strap whenever I do not want to use the shoulder strap. If you wish, I can pm you some photos on how that system works.

And I bet you wear their LOGO proudly. It must make you feel important!

I use a Joby Pro Sling Strap.
With a Nikon D750 and 28--300 Zoom it has proved to be the best.

I can leave the tripod mount on, and it attaches to that with a safety link to the regular camera strap rings on the camera. That means two fasters to the camera would have to fail together to drop the camera.

It rides on a cross shoulder over body on my side by my hip and you just pull it up to shoot.

A big virtue is it is not in front of your body or swinging so when on the go, or hiking up a rock wall, it stays on your side/hip and is not swinging forward to hit the wall like a neck strap allows.

It wasn't expensive for both a camera mount (so my tripod plate would still work) and the strap. I was in NYC at B & H and the nice clerk hustled it up from their warehouse, since it wasn't on display or in their catalog.

Google Joby. They had some nice pictures that show you how it fits

(Multi) Camera Carrying Chest Harness. I use it in most cases. No camera bouncing or pressure on one shoulder or neck. Used it for multiple days (more than a week) hiking in Sierra Nevada, CA or Patagonia in Chile or Inca Trail in Peru with heavy full size camera (Nikon D850) and different lenses. I do have Black Rapid strap for some occasions too, but chest harness is my #1 80 % of times.

For some conditions this has worked well for me.

I just got this one but I got it for use with the digital holster it says it can be used for the camera without
the holster. I'll let you know how I like it.

I second it. I have a dual harness and it had really saved me back and neck aches. It has a big cushy horse-collar-type neck pad straps to close it like a vest and clips to carry two cameras or camera and binoculars or....

I was about to say the same thing. My Optech has a nice pad about the neck area. About the only downside of the design is the strap has a tendency to get twisted. Fortunately, there are releases making it easy to relieve the twisting.
