FWIW - I have used a Black Rapid sling strap for many years now, yes it connects to the tripod socket, but I just keep a Black Rapid Arca Swiss plate with d-ring connector on it so I just disconnect my strap and slide into a standard Arca Swiss clamp on my tripod when needed.

Camera, grip & lens supported by strap hang at arms length and easily grabbed by my right hand when needed, also easily held onto by my right hand for added support if needed.

Just be sure your tripod socket is not just held in with cheap plastic!

I have never had a loose mounting screw or a socket issue.

I second these comments. I really like the Black Rapid system. The Arca swiss plate with D-ring is an unbeatable combination.

So many possibilities. You'll get ten pages or more of replies, so I hope you see this one.

I don't use a neck strap, and instead I use an Op/Tech sling.
https://www.amazon.com/OP-TECH-USA-Utility-Strap-Sling/dp/B003T0EYVE/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=op-tech+strap+sling&qid=1594575062&sr=8-2
This Op/Tech sling goes over the neck but rests on the opposite shoulder, so it can't fall off and it doesn't tire the neck (or one could drape it from a shoulder like a lady carries a purse -- I've done this for a brief moment). The thick padding is cushy-soft yet strong. This connects to a camera lug, leaving the tripod socket free for an L-bracket or tripod.

I don't use the sling often, and instead I use an Op/Tech wrist strap.
https://www.amazon.com/OP-TECH-USA-6701062-Wrist/dp/B00137NMMW/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=OP%2FTECH+USA+6701062+SLR+Wrist+Strap+%28Black%29&qid=1594575483&sr=8-3
There are a few variants of this popular Op/Tech wrist strap but I've not tried the others. I've used this one for years (Amazon pegs the purchase at May 6, 2016). It's comfortable, strong and secure. I slip my hand into it before grabbing my camera from the bag or tripod or wherever, and twice (that I can recall, maybe more) I would have dropped my camera but for the wrist strap. Best eight bucks I've ever spent!

With the wrist strap, I use a Case Logic sling case.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ISXBFI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is where my camera lives most of the time. This sling case with thick padded straps goes over my neck and rests on the right side of my back, suspended comfortably from my left shoulder. My camera is protected by thick neoprene until I need it, then I just swing it around in front of me. A quick zip, then in one fluid motion I insert my hand through the wrist strap and grab my camera and I'm ready to shoot.

The Op/Tech sling and wrist strap attach via a solid quick-connect that is attached to the camera lug in the usual fashion with thin nylon rope. As I said, I use the wrist strap mostly, and only sometimes remove it and use the Op/Tech sling in lieu of the sling bag, usually only when I'm stationary for a good while and set my sling bag down.

The bag holds an extra lens (even a 100-400mm fits -- barely), and all sorts of accessories in its three small pockets. I carry extra memory & batteries, an intervalometer, and cleaning doodads, and I strapped a small filter wallet onto it to carry my NDs and CPLs. I also roll up my Op/Tech sling and store it under my extra lens. I can't fit everything, but that's not what this sling is for; rather, it's for my camera and one extra lens plus a few odds & ends I frequently need. It even has a tripod strap but I don't use it. I use my LowePro Flipside for a longer hike or when I need more than this offers.

I have a battery grip on my camera, plus a hand strap.
I put "D" rings on the camera lugs and use an old 2" wide denim clip-on strap carried cross-shoulder.
Works for me.

Agree with LWW https://www.usagear.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=675_694
Use the pockets for M50 batteries

Okay Hedgehoggers, I need some help. I just bought a Pentax K1 Mk ii with battery grip. Beautiful camera but damn it’s heavy to be hanging around my neck all day on the chinsy strap that came with it. So, please suggest a better shoulder strap option. I’ve researched a bunch and it seems like a lot of them hang by the tripod mount-hole...this doesn’t seem like a great place to suspend all that weight. Thoughts? Thanks in advance, all.

I use a Cotton Carrier https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345430-REG/cotton_carrier_686grey_ccs_g3_camera_harness.html for my D800s and D850s. You can also buy it for two cameras https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345355-REG/cotton_carrier_147grey_ccs_g3_camera_harness.html.

The Cotton Carrier has multiple advantages over straps. First, the camera is carried close to your body centered on your chest when not in use so you do not need to worry about it as you would with a side strap where the camera can strike a solid object when you walk through a door or by a solid object. Your camera locks into the Cotton Carrier with quick release that allows you fast access and a safety strap between the Cotton Carrier protects your camera from drop damage should you loose your grip on it. A big plus is that it takes the load off your neck and places it on your body's midsection and equally on both shoulders.

I have used mine for five years and traveled extensively with it. I have found it to be a very good investment.

Hi,
This is what I use and really like it unless climbing rocky terrain.

I have a strap and a sling. I don't know how they sell this quality at this price.

- Starts at $15.

- Finished on the sides unlike other neoprene straps.

- Two tiny pockets built on for cards or remotes.

Thanks for the tip. After looking up the web page I bought two. True what you say about their prices!

Very happy with my Optech binoculars strap (no clips to allow strap to be used with different cameras). Old school for sure but cheap enough to have a strap for each camera.

For my money the UpStrap is the best for the buck. I use the Medium X Sure-Grip Pad + Suck Release + Kevlar Web Ends as pictured on all my Nikon and Hasselblad's. The best thing is the two-sided pad: one side smooth and one side ribbed to grip on cloth. This strap just does not slip even on a nylon rain jacket.

Sold by a guy in Florida and possibly by B&H although I always buy direct from the company.

I also use UpStrap. I have a lot of cameras so I have about 8, 9 or 10 of them. They grip really well so not much worry about them sliding off your shoulder.

Lots of people like OpTech straps. I have seen them but have not used them. They look like good straps at a reasonable price.

I like the UPstrap-Pro (see www.upstrap-pro.com or google "upstrap"). It is solid and has a simple design. It works well for me.

Hi
Ho bought recentrly a strap that goes over my shoulder to the other side. So it´s haning. Besides for being for comfortable it´s safer because it´s more dificult to steal.

JOBY Pro Sling Strap (different sizes available) - For Professional DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras. This strap attaches to the tripod mount on the camera. Hardware is excellent and the strap is high quality. It has a "slide lock" (my term) to lock the camera in a position on the strap for carrying and easily releases to allow the camera to slide into position for shooting. Mine is attached to an Olympus PEN. Works great!

Hello, I bought 2 through Peak Design and love the way it connects and disconnects from the camera. Can't explain but you can go on line and check it out
Enjoy, David
