This may be part of it. Nikon and Canon have been camera companies for a long time. Canon's first camera came out in 1937. Nikon's first camera came out in 1948. Sony was able to get into the photography business because they're an electronics giant. They didn't even start from scratch. Sony bought the assets of Konica Minolta after that company went out of business. The Sony Alpha line started in 2006.
Amazing how much the early models of these long-term camera companies look like Leica products. I just gave away my 1940 (?) C-3.

Not gonna change systems because I have a big investment in Canon and Fuji, and they are better cameras than I am a photographer, but if Sony cameras are as rock solid as their electronic products (I have had nothing but Sony TVs for decades and NEVER had a failure), then if I were starting from scratch, I’d surely consider them. In fairness, there has been at least one Sony poster (no names) who has blatantly advertised their products and posted a variety of negative comparisons to other makes. That sort of behavior can provoke a backlash and actually does the brand no good.
I think that some ( but not me ) are Sony haters because of some smug Sony users.
Ford or Chevy, Colt or Smith&Wesson. No big deal. The thing is that some of the Sony Fan Boys are so over the top it is very tempting to mess with them.

I own several Sony cameras and wonder why some Hoggers hate the brand? Y’all know who I’m talking about. I remember one poster said “I’d Never buy a camera from a company who used to make toasters!” It’s just something I don’t understand!
They're simply jealous! Ignore them... bwa
Great Discussion Everyone!
Precisely!
I wonder if the Nicanonites hated it when it was Minolta, too.

Sony is now making Nikon's high-end sensors. They've embedded a clever bug into the Nikon cameras with these Sony sensors: the Nikon DSLR suddenly dies after a encrypted number of flips of the mirror the sensor can detect as different from the original Sony mirrorless cameras. Just look online for 'Nikon Sudden Death Syndrome'. I've seen a thread where they think from your Nikon serial number you can identify the week number in the calendar year (01 -> 53) your camera is most likely to die. The syndrome isn't even very hush-hush.

You need some new shtick.
If you want to make enemies, say something true about Nikon...

I gave up buying Sony equipment 30+ years ago as everything I bought let me down, generally just outside warranty. I gave them a second, third, fourth etc. chance but enough was enough. No more. I also knew someone who worked in their servicing dept and the returns statistics were frightening.
Maybe they are better now but I'm not risking it, and in any case I am extremely happy with Canon.
Who was ever heard to say they'd rather have Luck by the side instead of a Canon in their hands?

Who can have a positive attitude with inferior equipment?
I've never had a Sony so I should stay silent, but have been turned off my ALL the many comments how different/difficult the menu systems are. Not interested in trying one. Perfectly happy with my Canon and Panasonic lumix cameras
