It's because it's not enough to like what you have. You also have to hate what you don't.
Sony, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Windows, Macs, broccoli, spinach......they all have haters. Poor souls.
Failure is when you talk yourself out of buying a better camera.

As an old timer/purist, I had to stay with Nikon when I went digital. However, based on a friend's advice I bought my wife a Sony HV 400 with the Zeiss super zoom lens and I find myself borrowing her camera half the time. It's not a question of hate, I think just it's that us Nikon and Canon folk go with what we know and trust.
I have two Sonys and one Canon. Have I experienced mix dominance? Certainly not .

That is a lot of camera experience - I see that you avoided Canon.
Yeah, I never gravitated to Canon cameras. I don't know why, they just never appealed to me.
I know Canon makes good products. I have a Canon printer, and they are my favorite out of all the printers I have had over the years.

I'll bet you a nickel that if you thought long and hard TYPO would come to mind. Then all would be clear and everything would be right with the world.

Well I don't know about right with the world. After all I haven't killed an elk in about three long dry years now and I haven't caught a 10 pound brown trout either. But other than that the world seems to be doing OK with its normal ups and downs.
Oh, as for the thinking long and hard, yes I did know it was a typo but wanted to interject some humor into a post that, to me, seems to not have been thought out very well by the OP. I have seen nobody hating Sony cameras nor any other camera here. We all have our likes and dislikes but nobody seems to actually hate one camera or another.
Have a wonderful day. Thanks for explaining the typo.

My first new car and several after were made by General Motors. I knew they would be good because the M16 I was issued {M16 E1 Experimental Model} was manufactured by General Motors Hydra-Matic Division. It never failed me, so I knew GM made good products.

Sony is a large company that has several divisions. These have their own employees and management departments.
My first introduction to digital cameras was Sony. I think I purchased 4 of them as new models came out. The last one I used was a DSC-F-707. The saving grace of any of those early models was Zeiss lenses. These were taken with the DSC-F-707. It did take a bit of working with the camera to get it to understand how I wanted exposures done.
Once a friend of mine introduced me to an FX Nikon, Sony became, somewhat, a thing of the past. I still use it for IR work, as it is very good for that right out of the box.

If you don’t like what you see in the mirror, change to a mirrorless camera.
I like your responses! But do make them all up yourself? Or do get them from elsewhere nobody can be that quick witted all the time. After reading thousands of remarks here yours usually make me smile 🧐
Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Sony make Nikon's sensors for years.
Sony is now making Nikon's high-end sensors. They've embedded a clever bug into the Nikon cameras with these Sony sensors: the Nikon DSLR suddenly dies after a encrypted number of flips of the mirror the sensor can detect as different from the original Sony mirrorless cameras. Just look online for 'Nikon Sudden Death Syndrome'. I've seen a thread where they think from your Nikon serial number you can identify the week number in the calendar year (01 -> 53) your camera is most likely to die. The syndrome isn't even very hush-hush.

It is likely because they are jealous of Sony cameras superior performance and think that running down Sony will make their own choice of non-Sony camera gear appear more wise. It is the same impulse that causes some people run down the way other people dress.

Explain how you got ol’ black face back in office, then.
“‘ol black face”??? Did you seriously make that potentially racist comment? Are you referring to the Canadian PM or the former US President?
Well, I have a positive attitude and use a Sony A77 with a Sony 18-250 lens and it is totally perfect for what I do. I have to be able to document a scene quickly and accurately without getting in the way of the guys doing the extrication or rescue work...I have to do overalls and close-ups, get the details such as skid and gouge marks, road signs, extent of injuries, etc., and do it without bothering what anyone else on the scene is doing. And I have to do it with enough quality that it can be blown up to go to court and not be blurry! And then I do pics of my dog and cat and trips to Yellowstone with it's grizzlies and bighorn sheep, and, like yesterday, I caught a C-17 headed for Sicily dropzone while on a wreck scene. So I love my Sony!!
