Hi Autofocus. I'm in a very similar situation regarding retirement. The only benefit for me is that my stress level is down. (it's time for a new timing belt on my car; I'd rather be buying a new Canon.) Good luck! :)
Best to fix it yourself if physically capable

yeah, it just might be my only option, and thanks again!
Worth a try anyway. I had to reinstall cs4 years ago and it wouldn't accept the product key. Using the installation cd. I vaguely remember having to launch the program from within the cs4 folder instead of using autoplay. I think it bypassed the product key part of the installation disk. But later had to type the key in. After I got it all sorted out and the computer was running good I made a backup using Macrium Reflect.

Hopefully someone has an answer for me. As yet, I have not been able to find one. While working in photoshop on a Windows 10 PC the screen automatically reverts back to the desktop in between edits. Let's say I have 3 photos in the cue to be edited and as soon as I finish one the system reverts back to the desktop view, and I have to click on photoshop again in the task bar to go back to it...makes me nuts! All, or any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

BTW, if it matters, and old version of PS and an HP laptop
Hopefully someone has an answer for me. As yet, I ... (show quote)

I'm not sure if that's a real answer to my problem, my systems boot up in windows, regardless of the version I'm using, and I can't flip between Win 7 and Win 10 on the same PC, but thanks.

1st, I don't want to assume, you are running a 64 bit machine correct? If not a 32 bit has a max ram of 3 to 4 gigs depending how it's set up.

2nd you could set your program to run in compatibility mode... Have windows 10 do a compatibility check on the program it may come back with the solution to run it as windows 7.

Just a couple thoughts...

Didn't read the whole thread, do you wave the setting for hot corners turned on. This setting allows you to back to the desktop when you move the mouse to a corner, i do this instinctively when i take my hand off the mouse, i move the pointer down and left as i do and up pops the desktop.

autofocus, but you are booting up on a pure Windows machine (Dell, H/P, etc.) and not an iMac, yes??
With Bootcamp I could boot up on Windows OR Snow Leopard (iMac's OS at the time). Could not run both operating systems at the same time, however. Parallels would allow me to do this but I had to have the Apple techs totally reformat my hard drive. Ran into all sorts of problems with Parallels.

yes, a 64 bit machine and I was optimistic about your second option. I ran the compatibility test, tried it, but unfortunately the same problem... a good thought though, so thanks for the suggestion!

putting the mouse in the corners does not trigger that function, thanks for the suggestion!

I know you can do that on Macs, probably ever since they abandoned Motorola processors in favor of the Intel architectures. I guess I assumed you suggested doing it on a non Apple Windows PC...my bad

The latest update to Win10 has caused my Dell all sorts of problems. I had to reinstall my Nik software because Windows no longer recognized it in Elements 14. That's the easy part. For the first two or three days I couldn't log into Windows; the white box appeared by I couldn't enter my "code".
