I have had too many problems with certain Windows 10 updates. There are many problems with them. And to help you with some of your problems Google Windows 10 update problems in your Google search. One of the problems that it sounds like your having is that your current software simply isn't supported be whatever version of Windows 10 that you are using. I myself have had this problem with one of the recent updates. Some of my software worked fine when I first switched to Windows 10, but after one of the updates froze me out of my computer and it took three months for me to find a solution, that software was no longer supported by Windows 10. That seems like the problem that you have. A possible solution to this is either buy the current version of your software (expensive) making sure that it supports Windows 10 or use the software that came with your camera making sure that it is updated and/or to support Windows 10. The latter choice you could use until you decide to purchase new software.

thanks for your ideas. I thought this might be a simple fix, but so far none of the possible suggestions helped...I may have to live with it

The short answer is Windows 10 Sucks big time. I am a software developer and Windows 10 is one of the reasons I decided to go ahead and RETIRE. After doing Linux development for 15 years I was asked to do some development for a product using Windows 7.

I worked three years in that environment. It was OK. Windows 7 was probable the best version of Windows ever. XP was great also.

I developed a sub sea seismic recording system that could bring in 40,000 channels of seismic data sampling all 40,000 channels 500 times a second. Writing the data on a huge RAID. It was quite a feat. When Windows 10 came along we were lucky to sample 5,000 channels. Plus all the other &^%&* problems.

I am retired but doing embedded firmware developer for a few projects just to keep busy.

In my opinion Windows10 is one horrible OS. I would love to go back to XP but support ended back in 2014 I think. Time for an iMac.

Don't blame it on W10. With only 8GB, PS probably causes a memory problem as it tries to save your pictures. On my W10 system (version 1803, not 1903), 30% of the 16GB is used with no applications other than Firefox and Thunderbird running. It easily tops out in the 10GB range when I have DxO Photolab2 up and running. If you have any applications other than PS running, close them out before running PS and see if that helps. You could also verify whether your problem is memory by starting the Task Manager prior to saving your file. Like others have mentioned, I have not seen your problem on Windows 10. The last time I saw anything remotely like it was on Vista.

Do you have the software from your camera? If not, members have used other software that is free ( check under free photo editing software in the uhh search) and try that. You don't have to be stuck with unusable software. You may have to learn a new software but I believe that since you know one that the learning curve won't be hard. Also, try it. You might like it better because it won't get hung up all the time. You will find that you will enjoy it more without the frustration. Very important, back up your photos before and after you work on them. Hope this helps.

thanks kindly for your suggestions, but I bought the camera used and no s/w came with it. Plus, I do a lot of creative editing in PS, and I'd doubt if any manufacturer's s/w would provide me with the same capabilities
