I work alone in a place late at night for my “day” job. The other night I was looking for something and came across a bunch of rolling cases. In one, nicely tucked away in their little cubby hole in the case was two Canon 5D Mark IIIs with big long zoom lenses. There is no security and no cameras in the building. And yes I was tempted, dammit. I’m sorry. I’m human. LOL But I didn’t take them ok. I also walked by three professional Sony video cameras on sturdy rolling tripods. I was salivating so bad. All I have is a Canon 5D Mark II. Don’t judge me!!

First, I won't be tempted even if they were "free" because they are too big and heavy for my uses. Second, although I know there are some that have no conscious, I could never hide what I did from myself.
Hopefully that hunger for the next better thing translates into your save your nickels and dimes to get it. It is only human to want for more, but it takes a sentient being to do it the right way. It is nice to see someone else stay on the sentient side.
Here's my $.02's worth...they still have their cameras, and you still have your job...and your integrity!

But your integrity has been compromised by telling the world that you were tempted.
I was in the bank yesterday and didn't rob them. May I have some praise also, please?

No! You had no chance of getting away with it!

Maybe they would sell them to you.
It might be worth adding a quick note that many cameras embed their serial number in the EXIF data. Anyone who uses a stolen camera has to know how to strip the serial number out, and has to remember to do it on every picture.
Otherwise, sooner or later, someone will share one of your photos on the web, and the EXIF data will let the original owner know that you stole their camera.
Resisting temptation is a virtue we should all hope for...

I was 17, went past a Oldsmobile Dealer on Sunday afternoon, there, alone, parked next to the garage was a brand new black, 442, leather two door, KEYS IN THE CAR, and, best of all, NO ONE AROUND.
Then, my thoughts went to my parents reaction, I reached into the car, removed the keys, locked the doors, and put the keys in the night drop box and walked home. With a big smile on my face thinking about what might have been.
There was a guy in Florida who found a bag of money sitting in the woods. It turned out to be from a bank robbery back in the 1980's, so he contacted the bank and turned the money in.
He said he just assumed there was a studio audience somewhere voting on what he should do.

Sorry, but the fact that you were even tempted to take expensive gear that was not yours is a bit disturbing. Telling us does not make you a saint. Own it.
Lighten up. I think he was being facetious.
