I just happened to have new material to add to this theme, as of yesterday. This is possibly the most ridiculous sequence I have caught on a trail camera, and I had a hard time narrowing the frames down to ten to share with you. As many of you already know, the tub is for water for my wildlife friends, and I have three of them in different spots. Each only holds about three gallons and I try to keep them supplied, though I've fallen down on the job lately (literally, and ended up with a fresh shoulder injury). The green cable locks the tub in place so that bears can't steal them, which they otherwise most certainly would. The cable does not, however, keep bears from dumping the water as they play in it.
Which was good news for this bobcat, who evidently needed a dry bath and its own tub time. After some frustrating bear experiences lately, including a camera that had been swiveled 180 degrees and another that had been literally ripped off a tree--a postage stamp sized hunk of the camera was still attached to the strap around the tree trunk with the rest of it on the ground--I needed some success, and a good laugh. These videos provided both. The whole time the bobcat was in the tub a squirrel scolded it hysterically from overhead, which explains the upward gazes. I'm not sure I've ever seen any cat look quite so pleased with itself.
I hope you enjoy these snapshots from the natural world as much as I do.

Yes, they are. This one was really full of itself. It was even making those chattering sounds that cats do when they're watching birds, and once snapped in the direction of the squirrel, for which I do not blame it.

How amazing to have your trail cam get all those great shots. Domestic feline behavior in a very wild animal. Congrats and a great sequence!

Thank you. Once in a blue moon I'll get something way beyond the ordinary, and this was it. Usually bobcats zip past the camera and are visible for maybe one second. This one seemed to be auditioning for a leading role (and got it). I'm glad you enjoyed the sequence.

Isn't that crazy?
Looks like a younger cat, leaving scent in addition to play.
Hilarious! A really wonderful sequence.
What a great fun sequence! If you feed them they will come, and if you water them they will also come.

Could be. It seems very relaxed and confident, and I hope she or he has a long productive life and dies of old age.

True. I definitely don't feed them; the water is to keep a few animals from crossing the highway or wandering into a campground. I don't know if it works, but I get stuff like this for my efforts.
Congratulations, SWFeral!!! Isn't it great when a plan comes together?!
