Just saw a notice on the TV that several of the locks on the Trent Canal waterway will not be operating due to high water. hmmmm I would think that opening the locks every hour, whether there was a boat or not, would help getting the water down to Lake Ontario. I think more likely the government doesn't want to pay the operators because most of the locks are still manually operated.

Good morning from a 49F and mostly cloudy Shoreline area. No plans for the day today, so will see what comes along. Will get on with my knitting at some point. I hope you all are having as good a day as possible. xxxooo

Slow work = lots of knitting.
I do have a project to update one of the devices that I look after but I need to fill out a ton of paperwork first.

We had a terrible, awful, dangerous, thunder, lightning, rain, and wind storm last night. Thankfully our electric lines are buried and we have power. Area are without power this a.m. Trees down, cars and houses damaged. Tornadoes were mentioned but not confirmed. Today's temperature is 66 f (19 c) Yesterday it was 100 f. A great change in temperatures really spawns awful storms.

There are power outages in Brooklin and Belleville where tornadoes were confirmed. Belleville has roofs off of some businesses and several trees broken in half.

Your project will have to give you your the gauge.

My row gauge is almost the same. Surprising since I'm using fingering not DK, but my stitch count is off. It will be a smaller shawl (I don't mind).

Good morning from sunny Surrey. Did a great workshop on machine quilting yesterday but I'm absolutely knackered. Had a lazy breakfast sitting on the terrace, going to take it easy for a few days as I have an applique workshop on Monday. Still doing well with my Step up to June challenge.

Healing hugs to all who are poorly.

Happy Fish Friday everyone and stay safe xxx

Happy Fish Friday.
I'm glad you enjoyed the workshop. Our local quilting shop closed, but I noticed a new much smaller one has opened on the west side of Port Hope. I'll have to check it out and see how it compares.
Enjoy your easy day.

Everyone have a good Friday and an excellent weekend if I don't get online again.

I seldom do a swatch. Okay, I do not ever remember making a swatch. Most of my items are donated so it does not matter if it is a bit smaller or larger. When knitting for the greatgrands I aim to make it fit the oldest boy or girl. If it is a bit smaller the younger one gets to wear it. If it is a bit big the oldest one will grow into it.

Apparently our awful weather visited your area after it left here. I was glad to see when it blew out over the lake. Blew out over the lake and over Michigan onto Port Hope area.

I'm trying to get mum to use her answering machine to screen her calls. She gets so many salesmen calling.
Our No Call list is a joke. The list was sold/leaked to some large companies, which totally defeated its purpose.

I use my voice mail to screen calls. It doesn't always work. I checked the number the other day and it was listed as 692-0000. I was sure it was spam. Nope, turns out it was the call from my doctor I had been waiting for. Thankfully I was able to hit return call and got through to her.

Mum has just discovered that the HUGE leather purse/bag that my sister gave her for Christmas is useful. She had a sweater and bird seed blocks in there, so she could go the the lake shore and entice the birds closer so she could take a picture. What else would you put in your purse when you are a photographer. (Oh yeah, it holds all her spare batteries too)

Sounds like the perfect bag for a lady photographer that is always cold.

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 6:33 am EDT and 18'C (64'F) going up to 24'C (75'F). The humidity will be blown away by high winds after lunch.
Yesterday afternoon all my cell phones, work and personal, went off warning of a funnel cloud. We kept an eye out but it looks like it passed north of us. A tornado touched down in Brooklin just north of where I work and in Belleville, at the east end of Lake Ontario. We got heavy rain and could hear thunder far away.
During the storm one of the downspouts backed up onto the porch. We have trouble with this downspout every time it rains hard. Mum called the guys who did our roof. (They also do eaves) But they were going to charge $175 just to come and look at it. One of the other people that she had look at it, quoted a ridiculous price saying that it was impossible to get downpipes the same size as what we have. I found a 10' replacement after 10 minutes of internet searching. And there was also a plastic replacement with adapters, if we wanted to go that way.
DD managed to break a welded handle off one of mum's heavy aluminum fry pans. Unfortunately the welder north of us is no longer in business, so we'll have to find someone else to fix this.
The owner of the LYS sent out a message that she was closing the store and Knitting in the Parking Lot was called off. Good call. Although we didn't have the brunt of the storm pass over, we still had enough rain to make the parking lot very wet.
My Feel Good shawl is getting bigger fast. The ladies that I taught brioche will be able to handle this shawl so far. There are 2 increases that I can teach in 15 minutes. The rest is easy. My other brioche project is starting to look like some weird alien helmet!
Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is... (show quote)

Your shawls are really starting to take shape. I am sure it will not look like a helmet when finished.

Good morning all from another sunny and what's going to be a very hot Norfolk, hit 28C yesterday and higher today. Don't intend to do much except try and stay cool. DH will probably go shopping and it's salad for dinner. Have a good day, still stay safe. xx

Hello. I hope you put prepared meals on his shopping list. Right now you need to take care of yourself. If he cannot find something to eat that is his problem. If need be I can send you the recipe for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/smuckers-uncrustables%2C-peanut-butter-%2526-grape-jelly-sandwich%2C-18-ct.product.11985173.html They also come in other flavors.
Salad is what is for dinner at our house also. Daughter gave us packets of chicken made up in salad size. They are great. Do not even have to cook a protein to have a healthy vegetable salad.

Hope you got a treat if you were a good girl at the dentist. Our dentist use to put a nickel in our hand after he peeled our hands off the arms of the chair.
