Our squirrels have tried to attack a red-tailed hawk. They were lucky that it was a juvenile, because an adult hawk would have eaten them. These squirrels regularly have "squirrel wars" in our yard with invading neighbour squirrels and they come out of that with hair missing and scars. Squirrels will attack people who get too close to their nests. But generally the nests are high in trees, so only the tree-trimmers need to watch out for that. They are well armed with sharp claws and rodent teeth that keep growing.

This is the first week where I'll have double-digit C temperatures for the entire week. The nights are still cold.
Stay chill Judi.

Thanks Mav, I have the staying cool sorted out for the immediate future...... with a portable cooler sitting in front of me; & there are still some quite nice cool breezes coming through the open windows & doors!

It is only 1030am here, and we are already at 28.8℃, & our max temp will be 34℃ by 1430 this afternoon, so the aircon will be on very soon! xoxoxo

I will be quite happy to have an annual shot, when I have my flu shot; so I shall see what happens, and what recommendations will be given here! xoxoxo

I agree with Mav, possibly with the addition of heading off to bed earlier, if that is possible! Set up a pre-bedtime routine, to help your entire body get ready for sleep; that might help you also! 💤🥱😴💤💤 xoxoxo

Our neighbour tried to "appropriate" part of our front lawn. He had too many vehicles for his 13' wide front and tried parking on our lawn. We have 2 surveys that prove where the property line was. We ended up putting up a metal rod fence to stop him.
My brother also had the same problem with a neighbour who tried to build his deck out onto my brother's property. He ended up putting up fencing as well. Now that neighbour can't get his lawn mower from the back to the front. He'll have to take down the deck extension he put up to do that.

Some people are so greedy, and will try to get away with anything they possibly can! I'm glad you defeated your scrounging neighbour! Perhaps he should get rid of one of his vehicles, so that they all fit on his yard! xoxoxo

I also love those kind of storms, it clears the air while settling any dust that might be flinging itself, about in the associated wind! 🌩️⛈️ xoxoxo

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 6:33 am EDT and 7'C (45'F) going up to 12'C (54'F). Not as warm as forecast yesterday, but no rain until dark.
Two nights with less than 6 hours sleep and I am a walking zombie. I couldn't untie the bow on my apron and had to slide out of it. Last night we all spent an hour looking for my Brita Sip and Go jug that I lost somewhere between my home desk and the kitchen. We never did find it. I hope it is a slow day.
Yesterday, I had to start late because my new laptop wouldn't power on properly. I could see a very faint Windows logo on the screen but that was as far as it would go. The lady who set it up for me told me that 3 others had also had problems starting their laptop. Apparently if you connect to the monitors at work, it keeps trying to connect to those monitors, even when it isn't connected to them. Not sure I buy that as I did have the laptop attached to the monitors when I started it. She pressed the "emergency reset buttons" and it started. So now I'm looking up those "emergency reset buttons" because it looks like this is going to be a recurring issue. The CAO sent out an email yesterday that she want us to come to the office 2 days a week. We are supposed to be going to work to "socialize and work cooperatively". I talked to one other person while I was there, and talked with 3 people on Teams chat. So much for socializing. My co-workers communicate better when they use technology. I am still going in only one day per week per my supervisor. The department across the hall from mine only had 4 people in all day.
The chief medical officer of Ontario was on TV yesterday asking people to please put your masks back on, pretty please, but it won't be mandated. The antiviral drugs that are currently only available in Toronto will now be available in 'select pharmacies in areas of high occurrence'. Since there is no published testing going on, the province can pick and choose where to send those antivirals. Ottawa was concerned because they had a .002 reading on their wastewater. Cobourg, 6 km from me, had a reading of .02. But I'm pretty sure the only pharmacy in Cobourg that may get the antivirals is the Shoppers Drugmart in downtown Cobourg.
I am taking advantage of the nice weather at lunch to pack my summer tires in my car. I have an appointment to get my tires swapped on Thursday, but it will be raining Wednesday and Thursday, and I don't want to be shlepping heavy tires in the rain.
I did most of the buttonband on my LYS KAL cardi but looking at it this morning, I'm not happy. There are holes around the corners. I think I can do that better. And I have to check the pattern because I think I was supposed to pick up in the "ditch" second selvage stitch and I picked up after the first. I'll check again after a few hours and see if I can live with it.

He ended up moving. Hopefully his next property had more room for his vehicles.

Mirrors & windows confuse many of our winged friends, many people try to stop that happening by making their windows less reflective. We had Piping Shrikes (state bird of my state, and it looks like a miniature of our Magpie) crash into one of our windows; but this hasn't happened for quite a few years now; so they must have learnt about their reflections ...... which I am very pleased about. Oh, and they aren't the only bird that has attacked the window, in the belief that there is another bird infringing on territory. xoxoxo

We have Mourning Doves crash into our north windows a lot. It doesn't matter if the drapes are open or closed, if we put decals on the windows, or even stand inside the window. The Mourning Doves are pigeon family with very long tails. Those tails help with long-distance flying but are useless when trying to make sharp turns. Lucky for us, there are robust birds and usually just lay on their backs until they are no longer dazed, then get up and fly away. But our windows all have "pigeon" imprints.

I thought if wild creatures come near people it might mean the critter had rabies.

Rabies usually affects their ability to walk. We had a rabid groundhog that went in circles on our yard at the old house. There wasnt' a wildlife officer available so a police officer came to kill it. He had to be careful not to shoot its head as they needed the head for testing. It did test positive for rabies. As did a fox that collapsed on the front steps of one of our neighbours houses. The foaming at the mouth is one of the last symptoms before death.
