Why should anyone care what the pros leave behind or what the market follows?....🤔

The SLR vs Mirrorless in your hands are basically the same only the viewing process went from mechanical to electronic. And some SLR's had that available on a back screen.
We have been improving the electronics of the camera for years. This is on;y a more obvious one.

Yes, but we will likely never know why they are really shooting what they are shooting.

In the case of the big organizations which have switched recently, was it because there was a big clamoring from the field to move to what was selected? Or was it because the new choice was a lot cheaper? Or was it because big rebates on purchases go back to Corporate Purchasing to offset their bloated operational budget? That's exactly what happened at my last company when we switched to a much inferior provider of packaging supplies, then left us to solve thr headaches.

They are not that close. Nor mirror, no mirror mechanism and now, no shutter mechanism. How is that close? Best of luck!

That's not even close to an oranges to oranges comparison. Carry on!

Good point. I'm not a pro(far from it!!) and never had aspirations to be one. I don't change gear very often and when I do I look at reviews and user comments. For me, paying attention to what equipment the pros are using would be like checking out what cars racecar drivers own....

If the company provides the equipment or provides an allowance toward accepted equipment, it's an exact comparison.

Not a bad idea, actually. Or maybe those of us who are still happy with our systems need a new forum that could actually be devoted to discussion of meaningful photographic topics, including even our hardware, without having them devolve into sermons preaching to just buy a mirrorless camera (or do a factory reset on the one we have).

And FotoHog...I am sorry to have to tell you, but the division already exists.

You are quite right, of course. My point was only to let people know that keeping my 2 DSLRs does not make me feel insecure. Still, I did buy a Z9. Just DON'T TELL ANYONE . . OK? . . . . .

We should have a new "mirrorless' forum. This way, those of us who are satisfied with our clunky, old, DSLR's won't have to listen to the constant preaching about the mirrorless. It almost makes me vomet when I'm told I will never truly have a feel for life until I kneel at the mirrorless altar and convert to the no mirror god.

Only eat food that tastes as good coming back the other way. Or buy a mirrorless.

I think we need to be careful what we wish for or suggest. In the almost five years that I've been here, many have made that choice. Many of those were knowledgeable, helpful posters. Retention of new members as active participants is very low also.

There may have been some level of jest behind the OP's suggestion, but I suspect that the underlying feelings are quite genuine. Despite the occasional strokes written in appreciation for an answer to a question, it remains the case that this is neither a welcoming nor particularly friendly place. It would certainly never pass muster in any place that I would want to work.

At the risk of presuming to speak for the OP, I think the call is for a little more civility and quite a lot of what comes across, quite frankly, as bullying.

There are so many things on the UHH that I don't like but I don't want to stop people from doing so or isolate them. Let them speak.

The difference between who you are and the photographer you want to be is really just the mirror.
