First shot: just a little tenderness in the arm at the needle site for a couple of days.

Second shot: after 24 hours, I felt a little discomfort, like you're going to get the flu. I took half a dose of a "day time" flu medicine. Symptoms lasted about 5 hours, then all fine.

First shot sore arm, second shot sore arm slight headache and felt a little worn out for 1 day. Well worth getting both vaccinations for me. I heard all the hype of bad news in the media about the shots, but I felt it was just the media being the media looking for the worst in everything and trying to create controversy.

Wife and I are both seniors.
We got our second shots (Moderna) Feb 13.
Both were fine 1st day.
I was very slightly ill 2nd day, wife was a lot worse. Neither took anything for discomfort.
Everything cleared up by 3rd day for both of us.

Overall, I would say that my reaction was a 2, my wife's about a 5.

Both WAY better than Covid!

My wife was sick after her first (Pfizer). When they called her to come back for her second 3 weeks later, she went, but they wouldn't give it to her. (They said she wasn't in their system, even though they were the ones who had made the appointment!) Now, 8 weeks later (too late for the second one) they just called her and said she could come in for the second one again, (but she'd have to start over with the first one again, as too much time has passed!) Needless to say, she's skipping the whole thing and good riddance to it.

I've never heard waiting too long for the second shot makes you start over. There is nothing special about the second shot, it's the same serum. It is just a booster like getting a flu shot every year is a booster. There is a minimum of three to four weeks but not a maximum. I suspect we will all be getting boosters every year just like the flu shot.

Have you tried calling your doctor's office? I tried repeatedly to get scheduled online, both through Wake County's website and Duke's MyChart app. Day after day, no appointments available. Finally I called my doctor's office, they had direct access to Duke's vaccine appointment schedule, and were able to make my appointment while I was on the line. Worth a try.

I've called my doctor. They have no access to it. and they tell me to "keep trying". every time I try they say they're out of it and to "keep trying". that's getting old. My endocrinologist it at Duke. maybe I should drive an hour to get the shot over there if he can arrange it. how ridiculous is that?

I have gotten both vaccine shots. I had no problems with shot#1 and shot#2. No side effects only arms were little sore. At 79 years I did okay with them.

It appears everyone has a little different reaction to the vaccine. I have friends that had very little reaction, some sore arm for half a day, to a couple that stayed in bed for a day on the second shot. Whatever the post shot reaction, it has to be better than getting sick with Covid!

My 97 year old mom had her second shot; nothing more than a sore arm.

Don't sweat it, it's nothing compared to a ventilator for 30 days.

Jerry...
First....it's a vaccine..shot. More people had adverse affects from their Shingles shot(s)! Some, from their Flu shots. My wife and I...sore arms after the 2nd. Of 40 people I know....2 with an 'experience'. And one of those I suspect it was something else.
Second.....the statistical probability that 'many' teachers in your area actually had a bad experience does not measure up with the facts. You've heard of 'Blue Flu'...I suggest this problem was/is TU Flu. And not just in the Catskills!

My wife and I got our Madirna #2 Sat. My arm was sore for several days. My wife had sore arm and fever for 3 days. My wife's reaction was the same for the high dose flu vac.

No reactions after 1st or 2nd Pfizer shot. Same for spouse. We are 84 and 80.

Just read an article that the Pfizer vaccine is 85% effective after the first dose (after 2 weeks). Has anyone seen this study.
