Must realize these two doses are so far rated to last from 5 to 12 months before they lose they're efficacy. Welcome to the new norm!

Way back in March, I'd already decided that "boosters" would be needed. Pretty much no difference needing an annual flu shot due to new strains of the flu requiring a "tweaked" vaccine.

Both wife and I got second Moderna vaccination last week. Wife = no reaction past sore at injection site. I was fine until about six hours later. Sore in deltoid muscle, light headed, fever (103 deg.) that lasted about four hours. By next morning injection site was no longer sore and all other symptoms were gone.

Living near the Four Corners area, we feel extremely fortunate to have been (at the time) in the three (3!) percent nationwide to have received the shots. Especially considering the dismal vaccination records in so many other places!

no side effects either shot but I read that if no side effects vaccine wasn't working.

And do you believe everything you read? Having side effects may show the vaccine is working, but not having side effects doesn't mean it isn't working. Only about 30% of people getting the second shot have side effects, and you really believe it isn't working for the other 70%?

Had second dose of Moderna Sunday. No problems at all - not even a sneeze.

First shot, same side affects as a standard flu shot, just a slight tenderness at injection site.
Second shot, chills about 12 hours after injection, injection site very tender. Felt very lethargic and achy for about 24 hrs. After that perfectly normal (at least for me)..

My wife was sick after her first (Pfizer). When they called her to come back for her second 3 weeks later, she went, but they wouldn't give it to her. (They said she wasn't in their system, even though they were the ones who had made the appointment!) Now, 8 weeks later (too late for the second one) they just called her and said she could come in for the second one again, (but she'd have to start over with the first one again, as too much time has passed!) Needless to say, she's skipping the whole thing and good riddance to it.

She will be fine. First shot very effective. Second shot showing up as not needed. Wish her well, Steve

I've been hearing a lot online and locally about people being very sick for a day or two after the second Covid shot (either kind). Many people experience nothing more serious than a sore arm, though. Our local school was closed for a few days because so many teachers had bad reactions to their second shot.

Have any of you gotten sick after the second one? I get my second on March 3. A friend got an appointment at a site two hours away, and then she got one locally. She's gong to try to go there with her husband and have him get the shot. She called and asked about it, and they said it's worth a try. Any opinions on that?

I go for my second on Wednesday, everyone I know that's already had they're 2nd has had some some side effects. It's normal...it's your system building antibodies. Some have had chills, fever, one friend slept for 13 hours and after waking he was till tired. Dr Fauchi had a special on last night on Discovery channel, I recorded it and haven't watched it yet but I'm sure he talks about it. Also I'm pretty sure it's on Demand.

My daughter is a nurse. After her second shot, she had mild flu symptoms for 24 hours; low grade temperature, headachy, slight chills.

I got Pfizer. Slightly sore arm the 2nd day. My wife got Moderna, she's younger, different timing. Same results.

I got my 2nd shot yesterday. So far same soreness as first. My wife goes on the 28th. We've heard that 2nd Moderna can have a "kick" but a lot of other things factor into the equation. As stated by others, a day or two of inconvenience/pain beats the alternative.

I have a better chance of winning Powerball than getting a shot here in Greensboro. I guess it's because we are out here in the sticks in a city of 300,000.

My neighbor had the exact same experience! I have not been able to get an appointment yet!

Have you tried calling your doctor's office? I tried repeatedly to get scheduled online, both through Wake County's website and Duke's MyChart app. Day after day, no appointments available. Finally I called my doctor's office, they had direct access to Duke's vaccine appointment schedule, and were able to make my appointment while I was on the line. Worth a try.

Just read some disturbing news that the vaccines are testing out not to be as good as they thought for the new variants. Will we ever get back to normal . ----or is this the New Normal?
