First shot, no problems. Not even a sore arm. Second shot (at 21 days), nothing first day, then two days with a mild (very mild) headache. My boss got his second shot and said he felt like someone beat him up with a baseball bat. No one else in our office had a problem.

No insult intended, actually a decent conversation. Just frustrated with those who actually are unwilling or unable to make rational decisions, and with the misinformation making it difficult for them to do so.

"Pussy" is an insult, no matter who it is directed to. And to use it on a thread where almost everyone has taken the shots, even more so. And where is the misinformation on this thread?

I received the Oxford /Astra Device vaccination in Long Melford Suffolk England it was a 13 mile drive from my home in Sible Hedingham in Essex.
Did not feel thing, no problems since.

Have they addressed the problem of the variants with this vaccine? Dr. Gottlieb of the Pfizer people is worried that the UK vaccine has less efficacy for the new variants.

We did and didn't get a reaction from it. We hope now that I hasn't caused us to not got the full benefit from our first shot.
We will be due for our 2nd shot on March 11. We don't plan on taking anything before the 2nd shot only after if needed. Do, you think we will be OK. I am 81 and have C.O.P.D.

You should be fine. Older folks tend to experience fewer reactions to Covid-19 vaccination, yet still get a decent immune response.

There is little to no data on the effect of Tylenol (acetaminophen in the US, paracetamol in the UK) on the efficacy of any Covid-19 vaccine.

There are studies, mainly in children, of the effect of Tylenol on the response to various other vaccinations, for example vaccinations to prevent pneumonia, tetanus, whooping cough, etc. Some of the studies have shown a reduced response to vaccination, while others have found no effect. It likely depends on the vaccine type, the age of the patient and the timing of when the Tylenol is given.

It is more likely that medications like ibuprofen might lower one's response to Covid vaccine, as shown in a recent mouse study (https://jvi.asm.org/content/early/2021/01/14/JVI.00014-21), but there are no human studies to definitely prove it either way.

I am a little younger than you and did not have a reaction to either shot and did not take any Tylenol. There was very, very slight shoulder soreness with the first shot for about a day and absolutely no pain with the second one. No big deal for me or my wife. I think the consequences of not getting the shots far outweigh the consequences of not getting them.

I wouldn't worry about the second one if I were you.

If you can do without it is good. You want an immune response. If you can weather the symptoms without anything it would be better. Any anti inflamatory medicine would reduce the immune response .. No motrin--if you have to take tylenol.

Got my first shot today. After seeing/hearing about long waits I wasn't too thrilled. Being retired I can't be waiting around all day. Not when I might think of something better to do.

It was a 9:00 appointment. Had to fill out a form and got the shot at 9:15. Everybody was made to wait 15 minutes before leaving. There was a waiting room set up and they told you when to leave. In at 9 out at 9:30 was pretty good as far as I'm concerned. I have an appointment for #2 on March 24.

So far no ill effects and never felt the needle.
