I have a Santa collection of sorts. Each year I try to add to it.
1st was the Santa's Workshop. Then I got into cross stitching.
The Santa face in the heart was next & then the standing "cone"
Santa. A couple of years ago I took a wood carving class & made
that tree ornament. Other Santa's were purchased.

You're crafty Lavonne..pg..6

Christmas Memories
Day 2

In 2008 we visited the State Capitol during Christmas time, the decorations were so pretty..I put the camera on the tripod and set the timer for this shot..I can't remember why we both look like sour pusses though..

Looks like the decos are gorgeous! Thinking you were both wondering when the darn camera was going to go off!

Sounds like you had a nice time anyway!

A few years ago I made this Christmas chess set. Every year I enjoy getting the pieces out and setting them up. This year is no different and today I thought I'd share some of the pieces. The Christmas trees are the pawns. half of the trees are green and the remaining ones are red. The reindeer are the knights, The snowmen are the bishops, and then there is the kings and queens,Santa and Mrs. Claus and the houses are the castles. All of our grandchildren are chess players and depending who is visiting that day there is often a chess game underway.

Here's another old story around the Christmas tree...
Ever since I can remember...This wooden nut cracker came out and the story about it's history was reviewed...
It seems that my grandmother immigrated from Sweden in the middle of the 1800's. On her route here, a stop was made in Switzerland..She apparently perched this nut cracker as a souvenir. One Christmas many years ago when my dad was quite young, he decided to use the nut cracker on a brazil nut! This was somewhere around 1918 or so! The nutcracker was not made for such a challenge, and was broken in several areas! My grandparents were very upset about the damage! They insisted that it be repaired by my dad! Here it is on another Christmas-bearing the evidence of a "successful" fix 102 yrs later! A very unique Christmas memory!

Very unique and nothing like the usual nutcrackers.

This would have been the 9th year, I think, for a tradition started with the eldest grandson. A few of the years, the youngest one spent the day with his "P" (Grampie) and the boys slept over. Usually - the weekend before Christmas. Our "Together Day" ( a few years ago he asked me not to call it our "Date Day"!!) starts with a family breakfast, then Micah and I take off - sometimes to shop, sometimes to visit the train exhibit in the mall, lunch and then the Symphony's "Magic of Christmas" concert. Most years horse drawn wagon rides (free) were next - feed the horses carrots, clip clop through the cobblestone streets, look at the lights etc. On the way home we pick up a pizza and spend the evening watching a movie or something. In recent years he asks me to take him Christmas shopping. Things are looking a bit different this year. I am not sure how we'll handle things other than, he has been shopping over the internet and telling me what to get for him!
