An interesting set of images that comes with a heavy sigh. You have certainly captured the zeitgeist.

This has been The weirdest 4th of July at Huntington Beach ever. The pier was shut down along with ALL the beaches. The boardwalk where you could ride your bike was open and there were plenty of joggers and bikers but no one on the beach. It was really a shame too because the waves were BIG and no surfers at all. It was like a ghost town on the sand. What a difference a year makes. Normally on the 4th of July there would be thousands of people enjoying the beach and ocean. Photo #4 really tells a story about how many beach goers wanted to celebrate Independence day with the stars and stripes........even on their face with a patriotic mask.

Quite different than the beaches in NYC. To me, California did the right thing. You were still able to get some interesting pictures.
A very interesting set of photographs. Very moody, to my mind. But beautiful, yes!
I thank God for this website.
Love that photo the the Schwinn. Makes a 77-year-old man smile.

Story well told through your images.
If we don't get a handle on this Virus problem we could end up like the movie "On the Beach " which was produced in the late 5o'ssss . I would suggest all of you to look at it . I saw it in 59 and will never forget it . We are headed in that direction with the virus or other means . It is on You Tube . Be careful, it is depressing .

Don't you think it's good that people are paying attention and listening to health experts? They probably believed that the best way to celebrate the 4th of July is to stay alive. The United States has one of the worst records of infection of the Covid 19 virus. Everyone needs to be careful of themselves and others until numbers start going the other way. Stay safe!

Your beaches look like my beaches or rather South Padre - sad.
But check those bikes a SCHWINN. When was the last time I saw a Schwinn like that?
Great photos
I did a screen shot and sent it to my brother. He had a Schwinn like that 60 years ago.
Great capture of the time we are going through. The waves were awesome and would have made a lot of surfers happy. Stay safe till we can go out safely again.

Great photos that evoke so much more than an event. Based upon the responses, it appears the majority of us are really old coots...I guess it is no surprise, as it is basically a DSLR forum.
Superb set. Also standing out was the retro bikes. Flashbacks

You still got some great images of the area & folks trying to make the best of it like yourself. Love the Vintage Bicycles too.....nice to see them again. It's a great Beach just the same and the water is gorgeous. Thanks man.
