For any UHH’s who are not using LR/PS and create slideshows, what software are you using to do so?

What are you planning on showing your slideshow on? If you plan to show pics on your big screen TV you don't need any kind of slideshow program, it will do it automatically. Or, if you simply want your computer to do a slideshow, you can put your pictures in a folder and have your computer generate a slideshow when the monitor goes into "screen saver" mode. Otherwise, I don't know why else you'd really need a slide show unless you want to "show" your pictures to someone. There are a lot of apps you can download free with that also generate a slideshow.

Even Photodex is recommending Photopia.
Ive been using the trial & looks very impressive. It will import previous shows created from Gold & Producer along with Styles. The only issue I have is they are using the subscriptions method for purchasing like so many other software developers are doing.
The subscriptions method makes sense if you are a frequent user. One advantage Photopia does have in their plan is you can suspend usage & subscription until you need it again.
In a lot of was the interface is familiar but in some ways it takes a new way of doing things. In most cases for the better.
A note about the coding... a good number of the software coders are from Photodex. I guess that answers why the similar look & comparability.
i Have bee using Producer for all my shows previously. Looking at the two versions offered from Photopia, I think Creator will do At least 90% of what Producer was able to do.
Hope this helps...

Final Cut Pro X (MAC). Yes, it is a pro level video editor. So... I can do advanced work with it. All Mac users can use iMovie to do many of the same things.

Video editors can combine text, graphics, stills, video, and audio into hybrid output.

Fastone Image viewer is free and does a fine job with slide shows.

Does not look like this software will burn DVD?

Too soon to comment RrJeff... did you check?? or was it a vision from on high?

Smart wizards will help you create the perfect show. From duration to the number of images, Ashampoo Slideshow Studio 4 will provide useful recommendations and guide you through the creation process. To ensure that your show can be viewed on any device, we've included support for all common formats as well as burning your work on CD / DVD and Blu-ray disc

Cost $15... oh, excuse me... UHH people only judge a program by cost... spend more $ is always better!! NO! $15 and free download to evaluate. frjeff Worth a look.

Ooops, it is now $10
I downloaded and confirmed it does burn DVDs and BlueRay...

Here are 2019 list of programs... by the way too many photo edit programs that do everything are swiss army knives and do not do any thing well.

Check on Ashampoo, and found it superior... yes price much lower... but quality and abilities higher.

It may do all the original poster needs. Seems they offer a free trial.

... but what it lacks from the more expensive programs is "keyframe animations".

Pro Show Producer is what I use. It has been a dream to work with.

Here is a link to a video I made with Pro Show Producer:

As far as I can see, Photodex is not discontinuing anything except their online slide show building service.

Mike, check the link provided by DSPhoto on page 2. Sure looks like Photodex is getting out of the slideshow business...

I did. That is only their online slide show editing service that is being discontinued.

"Photodex's online slideshow creation service, ProShow Web will be shutting down on December 31, 2019."

The ProShow Web service is being discontinued, that's all. The client-side software programs, ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer, are not being discontinued.

For the ones still doubting my info about Photodex & their products Gold & Prducer my want to read the link below.... Believe me, I didn’t want to believe it either because I have been using it for a long time & have so many shows created using Producer. I’m just trying to keep others from investing time in building shows using these programs.

You are misreading that page. It does not say that ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer are being discontinued, it says that the online service called ProShow Web is being discontinued.

I use Pictureflect Photo Viewer. A Windows app from their store. Free. Does everything I want but you might want to upgrade to the Pro version for another $1.99 to get the thumbnail views, wipe/fade effects and anything else you may need.

It’s for live presentations. Slide shows are possible, but super primitive.

(Admittedly, my definition of “slide show” is an automated AV program.) If you want sophisticated audio synchronization and multimedia capabilities, you need something else.

Don’t get me started on the damned outliner, either...
