Beautifully presented Bob, wonderful start for what I'm sure will be a fantastic tribute to our Fallen, and to those who currently serve our Country.

Thank you Lesley I hope so.

And thank you, Bob, for hosting.

These images all came from our trip to Arlington National Cemetery
earlier this year, and include images of the Honor Guards at the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers (there are three.)

Thank you, Tim....words are a loss here for this cemetery

I love seeing you all's photos, and a big "Thank You" to all who have served! These are a few I took and a few from my family history. My relatives served in many wars in the past............4 of my Mother's 5 brothers served during WW2 and my family served all the way back to the Revolutionary War. But these are what I could find now.

Oh Yes I remember those days The Commander and Chief, you take a vow and are expected to live up to it as I always said be Steadfast, Loyal and True to that oath. I must ask, you mention pension did she receive that? Have a friend 1 year from his pension, they booted him out to stop the pension. He was a Major in the Air Force. Go figure!! But I also believe in 2 things - You should have served in the military to become Chief, and you have to learn to Follow before you can Lead!! Thanks for the come back. Bob

Bob-
She excelled during her service starting out enlisted (E1) and left as a 1st lieutenant-starting out as a paralegal specialist and being forced into military intelligence once becoming an officer...they originally weren't giving her anything but being smarter than the average knew if they were giving her the boot for a medical she was due a disability pension...so long story short her service was extended 6 months and she left not only with a disability pension but a very nice severance package. Like I said earlier I'm happy her service is over, she landed a job as a paralegal at the Dept. of Justice, married her soulmate (that she met in Germany her last week in the service), will graduating from Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in December, has an internship with a huge National law firm for the summer and starts as an assistant with another large firm when her internship ends (this firm has agreed to have her onboard while she finishes her degree and is taking care of all expenses related to her studying and taking her bar exam) then she will begin her career as an attorney with this firm...actually acquiring her goal in life at 35 yrs old...2 years earlier than originally planned...to be a lawyer so that she can make a difference in the world! Even though she is out of the service, she still volunteers numerous times a year...assisting service members with tax prep, assisting disabled vets with working around the red tape to get the services and care they deserve, etc. Sorry for the brag but Momma is very proud!

Here is part 2....please realize this monument was erected over 110 years ago in honor of all who served...this town has always been supportive of the Armed Forces, like I stated in the first post this monument is the center of town and is so large that for me to capture the detail I have to present it in this series....

The Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial in La Jolla/San Diego, CA.
Originally a big controversy about having a cross on public land, so the
property was deeded to a private foundation and the cross still remains.

In my home town of Galion, Ohio, the Historical Society took on the task of honoring all the local vets..
They asked for families to submit photos, and a small donation, to make banners of all the Vets , living and passed.
Then they worked with the City Dept to get them all hung in time for Memorial Day weekend. Last year, they had well over a 100, and they just told my wife Sue, that this year, they maxxed out, (run out of lamp posts) at over 150... (I love small towns)...
Now it is to be an annual undertaking, hanging the pictures every year, from Memorial Day, through Veterans Day, in November...
Pretty cool... and with all this in mind.... thank you Vets...thank you TransBuff, and Thank-you for hosting...
