I remember when conservtives wanted to fix things that were wrong. When did the conservative movement morph into the, "there's nothing we can do" movement.

In fact, the only answer I ever hear from your side is;

How about you return to the roots of your movement when you actually accomplished things.
When Eisenhower built the interstate highway system is a good example. I didn't read any books that said his answer to the question of how we were going to move cargo coast to coast as being "we cant do anything"

The libs always want more gun control, but are always more than willing to trample on the rights of law-abiding gun owners to get their way.

We already have a background check system in place when purchasing a gun through a Federally-licensed dealer. The breakdown in the system is when law enforcement fails to keep the Instant Check System updated when people are convicted of violent crimes, or when a lawful court order is executed to prevent so-called "crazies" and those having court orders in place for domestic violence. As an example, Dylann Roof was not allowed to own firearms, but one of the court systems in South Carolina failed to update the Federal system with his correction. How is that the fault of legitimate gun owners? The k**ler in Florida was on the radar of local, county, state, and Federal law enforcement, but still carried out his spree while at least one deputy sheriff stood by and did nothing.

If you lie on the Form 4473 background check, it's a Federal offense, but few folks are prosecuted for breaking the law.

You want people who are mentally ill from buying firearms. That's all right, but you must go through the courts to get a valid court order. People accused of crimes or mental illnesses have due process rights, and they must be upheld.

Firearms of any type are private property, and the means to seize that property has to be adjudicated in a court of law, with the defendant having the opportunity for a fair hearing, with legal counsel.

We also have private property rights guaranteed. How a person disposes of private property is their business in most cases. If you want to try and usurp that right, take your case to the Supreme Court, and let them adjudicate it.

The uproar over firearms is, in part, a canard. The liberal left in this country doesn't care a whit about due process and individual rights.
