Full Frame Camera: 24-70mm f/2.8
APS-C Camera: 18-55mm f/3.5 – f/5.6
Micro 4/3 Camera: 12-35mm f/2.8

All three of these lenses produce approximately the same field of view range.

24mm is wide angle, and 70mm is short portrait/short telephoto range on full frame. The other lenses produce similar results on their respective native formats.

My response is the same as Bill's. The 24-70 f2.8 is the best OVERALL lens for getting wide angle to short tele shots.
It really is a no brainer choice.

My most practical and versatile lens on FX is 24-120. My most loved and fun lens when i want to go light is my 28mm ais lens. On my D7200 body is a 42mm and on my D750 is 28mm or 35mm when the 1.2X is used.

In your own opinion what is your favorite all around carry lens that you want on your cameras 99% of the time. While walking down the street or in the mountains. If you could have just one what would it be. Gary D

Not an if, I got it, Canon 28-300 f/3.5-5.6L IS USM on a 6D. Nope it ain't the sharpest or fastest but it fits my personality. :-)

I really like my Nikon 24-85 3.4 -4.5 vr on my D810 and on my D700. Great range, light weight, practically a constant f4, inexpensive, and small. Pictures are very sharp.

My 50mm Leica Summicron. Great walk around lens. You can extend the range with your feet!

My choice is my 24-105mm F4 L as it is the best of two lens I currently own with my 6D MKII.....the later being a newer version of the 14mm Wide Angle Samyang which (unlike the first issue) has AF with the Canon system.... a big improvement and I really love it. Hats off to Gene 41 for the tip on this little lens.

Most folks have special lens for specific tasks and disciplines. So I'm not sure that one lens get's it done all-around and the ones I've mentioned are within my budget and limited ability as I am only a Rookie with respect the regulars on this forum. It is a privilege I take very seriously and the Hoggers have taught me so much in just a few short months that would ,otherwise, have taken me a life-Time to acquire. Thanks to all who contribute here.
