We are talking two different subjects here and trying to unify them - and that ain't going to work.
For one, the photos are, in sum, outstanding. A great eye - I'm jealous.
Which has nothing to do with the quality of the camera, except to say that whatever was used was good enough to give us some great images.
If the photographer knows how to use it, better equipment at the least allows greater flexibility. A shot with a limited camera might make a fine 8X10, but a better camera might make a great 40 X 60. Besides resolution, (more megapixels and better lenses) other equipment can help a lot too - a tripod and/or a polarizer as examples.
Again, remember the adage - "The Best Camera Is The One That Is With You." So a small camera that is comfortable to carry and is in your pocket is infinitely better than your Sony Nikon 850 sitting at home.

The whole point is that you do not need the latest and greatest camera to take good pictures, just learn how to take pictures. Spend money on lenses, they last.
I Can't believe you say a 24-70 F2.8 is not sharp ???? I have 2 of these lens on different cameras a D5 and a D3x WoW and you think a cheap Tamron lens is better WOW once again Mike

Ok great you have a D850, good for you. And lets see here, the Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 isnt sharp, is the Tamron Sharp? And all you take are snapshots.
I'm sorry but its not the camera, its not the lens, its you!
Learn to use the tool, 6 good megapixels will do a nice 11x14, I've got great pics using a Fuji S-1 pro with an old 24-120 pre VR, I'm no pro, but I'm proud of my work.
I think its kind of like buying your own conch shell with nothing to say (Lord of the Flies)
The following were taken either with S-1 Pro or Coolpix 5000, 3.5 and 5 mgpxls
But if you're good! (David Pine) need Hyper prints or cropping Mega megapixels the D850 will certainly be more than enough

It is apparent from reading the replies to this post that many or most readers don't know where this is coming from. You should have referenced these topics, or at least the first. I do agree with you.

I am 90 years old and have paid the mortgage and the fed and cloth the family as photographer since 1950 most of my work was fashion and product promotion, my son took over from me and shoots world wide for top brand products including Nikon, Canon, Honda etc and we never ditched any cameras until they went toes up, the camera we both use and he thinks the best ever made is the Canon 5Dii for stills and video if you go to Utube and search for; Walkers Crisps Sandwich he shot it entirely using 5Diis, I read quite a few photographic sites and smile at the armchair experts spouting about pixels and clarity this and that, and I think if it was still film 97% of you would not be interested in photography, film is making a come back amongst the professional photographers because a colour film will beat a digital image in every respect. I and my son still shoot a lot of film and digital always in manual and separate spot meter because we like to be in control; not the camera, just enjoy your photography and don't get caught up in the camera snobbery for some it is just male jewellery to hang round their neck. I am counting down now will lose my focus. Your eyes are the best camera, if you can't see a good picture the camera won't see it either.
It would have been helpful if you had posted these as Downloads so that we could appreciate them more.

The best lens in the world won’t do much for a 12mp camera!!!
Get a 50mp camera instead!!!

You really think your images are so good and above the rest? Sorry, they are not.
The only thing you got right is that a good camera is only as good as the photographer. A great (newer) camera held by a great photographer will yield greater images than an older (great) camera held by the same great photographer. (Think scalpel vs laser micro surgery, according to you surgeons using a scalpels are better than those using using lasers "Hey they left a neat, well define inches long scar, vs a small incision that needs maybe two stitches. Great surgeons can use both.).
As to go out and call out folks on their 'snapshots' well sorry, buy a mirror and look at your own 'production'. I am not sure if you are angry because you cannot afford some better stuff, angry because you have stalled in your growth or simply angry because life is soooooo unfair. Trust me many folks are their own worse critics, even if they get upset when criticized.
Right now this thread reflects on your character as a person, nothing else. As a photographer, the 'great, supposedly awesome' captures your present are a poor sample of your work, I hope.

I concur with what you said. Many look too dark and are just snapshots that no one would hang on their wall. To learn the craft takes years of practice and thousands of shots. It is not the camera but the amount of time you want to invest learning. Learn by doing over and over.
On the second batch of images 1 and 2 appear to have crooked horizons. Not sure what the subject matter is on 1 the clouds? #2 is too dark and it is hard to see what is happening on the right side of the image. The blacksmith shot I like.
With all this said your images reinforce your statement that it is not the camera...

You just remind of a friend of mine that has a wife, an ex he loves to hate but run to when she needs help, five girls (12 to 25) two bitches (dogs) and a mare. Says he hate 'females' but when asked why he stays answers: 'What would I do?'
Some folks are just masochists.
I can't decide whether your response is good or bad.
My less significant other and I have 3 daughters, all of which have young children. We have 1 beautiful dog and 2 chrome ponies. Your friend says he hates females; sounds like a 2 bit cop out or he needs to seek professional help.
I refer to my partner as my less significant other not because of being inferior, it simply because I'm the more gregarious half of the partnership. Unlike your friend, I don't have a wife or an ex I love to hate. There are both males and females I dislike and even a few I may wish bad things will happen to, but I believe in carma, the great cosmic equalizer.

That's what I did. I believe the folks that say a better camera can't record better photos either have never used a better camera or simply can't afford one. The difference in many images from an 18 megapixel and a 50 megapixel camera is in the details and is akin to night and day.

That's true so my solution is to buy cheaper lenses.
