For newbies to macro, yes the tubes gave me much greater magnification, but this shot would have not been possible without a good flash solution.

Download to see the full quality of the shot. Canon 5Dsr, Canon 100mm f/2.8L attached to a full set of tubes. Shot at 1/160th, f/11, ISO 200 fully manual settings and a 1/16th power flash.

Great shot, Blurryeyed, love the download and double click

Gorgeous shot !! I have the Canon 100 f/2.8 Macro IS - but wonder what the tubes do for the macro focus and the f/stop ?

Well, the higher the magnification the smaller the DOF, most jumping spiders are very small and even though this guy may look big he is small enough that I was able to get a lot of him into focus at f/11. Even with Tubes I don't like to shoot smaller than f/11 because of diffraction, I probably am to cautious in that regard but it has worked well for me. Most of my stuff is reversed lens and the high magnification also magnifies the flaws as well. Here is another thread that I posted today with an even smaller spider shot with an old 28mm film lens reverse mounted to tubes... again, this smaller spider has to be downloaded to be appreciated because he is so dark, just the kind of bug he is.

You have found a great niche - I enjoy the little jumpers that likely eat bugs I do NOT like.

Beautiful!
I am too lazy to outwit the critters into posing.
