Just to show what I do and you can perhaps try this. BTW: I am on Windows10.

1) Put the card into your reader
2) open your Windows tab (bottom right on the screes with the windows logo)
3) In search field key "This PC" W10 will likely auto fill this command and hit enter
4) This will bring up an image of your computer and will include the available drives of which 1 should be your Cannon card (it should look like one of the drives)
5) Hover over that drive and click it
6) W10 should open the drive and show contents
7) Keep opening the files until you see your images
8) Open a new folder on your desktop (Name it something that you will remember)
9) Drag and drop the images from your card drive to the new folder
10) close This PC (DO NOT DELETE OR FORMAT YOUR CARD AT THIS TIME)
11) go to the desktop and open your new folder, your photos should be available for editing or just viewing
12) good luck

Try plugging the card reader into a different USB port on your computer. Are you using Windows 10?

Lets hope they are not lost. Is there another PC or Laptop you can use?? Perhaps a friend.

I thought about that last night. I just finished rebooting a dell lap top. I'll see if I can work with that. I'll experiment with a card that I know photos are on my pc.

Insert a different card in your camera, format it and take a few shots. Now connect the camera with computer via usb cable and try to locate and view your images.

Just one other thought from my end, Sammie:
does your camera have internal memory? If so, are the photos in the internal memory and not on the card? Or does your camera have two card slots, and you've taken out the wrong card?

You didn't say what camera you use, so I couldn't check to see if either of these are a possibility...

I understand now what you were saying. I did not understand your reasoning for using the second card slot as a duplicate rather than an extra place for overfilling the first slot. I use the second card, SD/CF only for more than the SD card can hold. My question was, of course, if she can't download one card how will she download a second card.
Dennis

Forget her question for a moment, I was just answering your comment regarding the number of slots. Now back to the OP. As I pointed out, it would be helpful, if something bad were to happen to the card she is currently working with, to have a second card sitting in the camera with all her photos intact. That's all, nothing more. BTW I did not put up the post you responded to, I just answered your question.

I'm assuming that your camera is using a Scandisk memory card. Your camera should have come with a USB camera to computer interface cable. This cable will have an USB 2.0 connection on the computer end and a small camera connection on the other. Connect the cable to both devices. (note: make sure your using USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0. 3.0 is suppose to be backwards compatible, but I have had issues with that.) Turn on the camera.
On the computer press the option Key (usually this key is between the "Cltr" and the "Alt" keys) and then the "E" key. This will bring up Windows File Explorer. You should see your canon folder in the left hand side of the window. Mine shows up as Nikon D3300 with a subfolder DCIM. Yours might be Canon T7i with a DCIM subfolder.
Open these folders until you find your photos, they should have a file extension of "camera naming convention".NEF or .JPG. Using the View option in windows file explorer, select "extra large Icons". You should see your photos.
If you see the photos, select one and then press "Ctrl" then "A". This will select all the files. Press "Ctrl" then "C". This will copy files to computer memory. Select the folder in File Explorer you wish to copy the photos to and then press "Ctrl" then "V". This will start the copy process. Depending on the number of photos this could take a while.
I use a program called "Teracopy" to copy and paste files. It's a free program. You can obtain a copy from "https://ninite.com/" along with some other great free programs. (This site is virus and malware free as is all the programs they offer. so don't be afraid to use it.)
I hope this helps

Well I just got back from my Alaska trip and I'm panicking. I'm trying to download my photos from the memory card to my pc. I keep getting error message "no photos found". When I put the card in the camera the pictures show up. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Check the tab on your card it may have slipped it should be in the up position

I use the second slot for duplicate storage when I think what I'm shooting is important. If card #1 has a problem, card #2 should save the images.
