Well I just got back from my Alaska trip and I'm panicking. I'm trying to download my photos from the memory card to my pc. I keep getting error message "no photos found". When I put the card in the camera the pictures show up. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

possibly your card reader is bad. Try a new one. If that does not work, try connecting the camera directly to your computer and transferring them that way. Good luck.

Sounds like your using a UI program that detects photos to move them. Is it possible that the file format is not recognized as a photo format in the program or UI being used. If you have a file explorer try accessing the card with that, it will likely show up as a drive letter, then select and copy the photos to the computer as files, no UI determination of type.

Years ago I had the same thing happen. I bought a card reader and plugged that in to the computer. Now all is well.

I tried going direct to camera. I have the Canon T7i I downloaded the software but still didn't read the card. I also tried using a care reader that didn't recognize photos either. I know the photos are there just can't download them.

I would just open them copy an paste them where needed. Then let camera reformat card for you. When you get a new card let camera format it.

DO NOT. Reformat the card until you are sure they are on your computer and readable. Reformatting the card will erase your photos.

I can't open them because I can't download them.

I'm not too much of a computer wiz, so I'm not sure what you mean by UI. It could be a file format not sure. I've never had this problem before
In fact they have download really well. My frustration level is leading me to a glass of wine.

Thank you. I thought I was going crazy. I have 3 card readers (plus the puter slot that I don't use), from cheepie to 'paid too much'. After realizing that quite often I couldn't find images that I knew I took, using the readers, I started to take notes. Found that all three readers read differently, each loosing different amounts/images. The expensive one was as bad as the cheepie. On two occassions an entire shoot was lost on a card using the readers (leaving the images that were shot earlier).

I just started this (only 3 shootings, about 2000 clicks). I have sworn to never take the card out of the camera again, should this work. Transfer goes directly from camera ( 3 nikon P & Ss and a d5300) to puter. Also my 1.5TB external HD arrived today. I will no longer store/edit photos/videos directly from the puter hard drive. So far I cannot tell that I have lost any images.

Something tells me that these changes might work for the better.

Lets keep in touch and I will post again after about 15 more shoots and share my notes.

Incidently, I use more than one puter, same results. V

I'm not sure the shots are lost. When I put the card in the camera and I check them their all there. I'm hoping it's something simple. I think I need to take a break on this for the evening. Thanks for your comments.
