I appreciate that, Dave! BTW, I love your avatar scene--so calming.

I'm sure this avatar would look real nice in full screen mode - especially on my old 27-inch iMac.

Castle Valley was our destination after leaving Arches and we had some beautiful late afternoon lighting on the monuments. We started out going up the Castle Valley road to a small settlement with an old homestead, then followed Hwy 128 along the Colorado River until we could look back on the Fisher Towers. Next, we went up the road to the Fisher Towers Campground for a close-up of the towers, then took the road up to Professor Valley. The final shot was taken at the end of the Colorado River Pathway as we returned to Moab.

Those are beautiful. I'm sorry we missed them! I thought we were being pretty thorough, but I guess not.

Excellent series. Thanks for sharing.

For me, the fun of traveling is sharing the results--just happy when the folks viewing them see images that are pleasing to the eyes. Thank you for the compliment, Vick.

Your photos are beautiful, the light is wonderful and the colors are fantastic.

That did turn out to be a good location for the late afternoon light. While I find the colors a bit challenging to post-process when the orange is so overwhelming, Lightroom's HSL module allows the opportunity to define and separate colors that are close in value. I find it more useful than the universal sliders. Glad to know the images are looking good on the viewer's end, Sirius_one!

Beautiful photos and wonderful colors! I've not been to that park, but now I need to.

There were so many compositions to be found all along this route with all its spurs trails leading into separate valleys. Definitely worth putting on your bucket list, David. We were covering three directions from Moab in two days, but could have found much more to explore given several more days.

Really stunning photographs - some obviously caught in beautiful morning light. Thanks for sharing them.

Wish we had had beautiful morning light while in Moab, Steve. Instead, we had solid canopies of clouds until near noon both mornings. Once we gave up at Arches or Canyonlands in the AM's and headed up Hwy 128 along the Colorado River, the lighting held good for the rest of the afternoons. These images are late afternoon. Can't say for sure, but I think the valleys along Hwy 128 photograph better in the afternoon since the beautiful monuments are mostly to the southeast. Glad you enjoyed this set!

Wow Diane, these are absolutely excellent. I am glad you did this post today because I cannot find the post you did a couple of days or so ago. But I can see your Flickr link below so I am all set and now can see all your photos. If I recall, you are using Nikon and not Canon. ~FiddleMaker

You jumped in at the right time, Fiddlemaker--the light was rather uninspiring in the first two sets. And you remembered well--I do use Nikons. But my travel buddy is a Canon man and we have lots of arguments over who is getting the better captures...I'm convinced the Canon equipment gets sharper detail. (And we both work from tripods.) But I love the Nikon menus and external button controls. I went from cropped sensors to the full frame D750 last year and darned if I didn't keep using the D5300 on most of my shots because of the versatility of the 18-200mm lens mounted on it. (I had only the 24mm f/1.8 for the night shots and a 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 for the D750 with me.) Hard to break old habits.
