Great set D. I didn't get this far up the Colorado so am glad you posted what I missed.

Glad I could fill in the gaps, ME, but nothing beats having your own perspective on the scenery. Now you have a reason to go back there!

Great series. Thanks for letting the world know about Castlr Valley and the Fisher Towers. I have visited Bryce, Zion and The Arches each many times and missed Castle Valley and the Towers. I won't on my next jaunt.
Thanks again!

For what it's worth, we only saw the tip of the iceberg. When you go back, allow several full days in order to drive further back into the valleys and get the benefit of both morning and evening lighting. We didn't do the Manti-LaSal loop drive this time but it is worth the half-day trip, also.

Thank you for the kind compliment, Einreb92--and welcome to the forum! Which areas did you visit/explore when you were on your trip?

Thank you very much! Ours was like the Beatle's song: long and winding road. We started out at my brother's place in Scottsdale, drove to the G Canyon, then thru the Painted Desert and Navaho country, then explored Needles on the way to Moab region. Once in Moab, we used that as our base and hit Arches, Canyonland, Island In The Sky etc. We then proceeded further north to head west through Capital Reef ending up at Bryce. Finally, we drove to Zion to finish out the trip. The Mrs had never been out that way before, and was calmed and enthused by the power and beauty of that entire region. I asked about equipment because I very much like the quality and dynamic range of your shots. I am soon to buy the D7200 and wondered what could really be done with it. Judging from your crop shots and glass, I think I will be fine with my choice (I got spoiled by having our son's D800 and glass for the trip.) Thanks for asking , and I apologize for the lengthy reply😬

Outstanding set of images of this ruggedly picturesque part of our country Diane. Each of these is a pleasure to view, but my personal favorite is the beautiful light in #7.

Thanks so much, Tom! The foreground rocks in #7 are what caught my attention because they looked like the makings of hoodoos similar to the rock formations at Goblin Valley. Amazing how so many colors and types of rock can be found in such close proximity...especially evident in the rocks we found at Capitol Reef. The Southwest is full of surprises.

Thank you very much! Ours was like the Beatle's so... (show quote)

No apology needed, Bernie--I'm delighted to find another traveler who takes on ambitious itineraries like I do. I did almost the same trip back in 2009 and Utah and upper Arizona plus Nevada last spring. Mostly, I explore all along the Rockies. You'll have excellent IQ with your D7200, especially with better glass than the 18-200mm. But I will add that the dynamic range in so many of the bright sun shots was salvaged by using Adobe's Lightroom 6 software for post-processing.

Extremely nice images. Utah is a great state to visit for such beauty as you know. I was there in April and I do hope to get back there again in the near future. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much, Dennis! I agree that Utah offers outstanding photo ops. I've been several times and suspect this trip will be the last for that region. I still have Yosemite, the Northern Borealis, and a return to the Canadian Rockies on my radar and hope to be blessed with a few more years of travel.
