I always have a car charger in my vehicle and it never leaves. Also have at least 2 spare batteries.

Can the battery be charged while in the camera? From laptop to camera, USB? Some cameras have such an ability.

its called lack of preparation. So anxious to get going one forgets to get things together to go. Try a checklist henceforth

Looking for a little advice. Currently, in Rocky Mountain National Park, Heading through Utah Canyon lands to San Diego with my Canon 60D with 1/2 battery charge. Was excited about the prospects along the way, but my forgetfulness left the charger at home. Will be able to have shipped to San Diego, but will miss Utah Parks. Would it be better to rely on cell phone camera or try to find a point and shoot, like the Nikon CoolPix which uses easily replaceable batteries?

Ask a ranger to borrow one for a few hours.

This charger is available in Grand Junction at Best Buy; of course, I have no way of knowing your route.
But you're not far from Boulder or Denver either. Good luck

The lesson to this topic is to take extra batteries and an extra battery charger. These two items can be purchased inexpensively. Get a car charger adapter too, if traveling by car. And don't pack hastily going on that fabulous trip. And if you are a forgetful person, as many of us are, just make a checklist of important things to take, and check off. Your trip will be far less stressful. Believe me.

I did the same thing about 15 years ago. Now I don't forget. I bought a new one. I now carry several extra batteries in my camera bag and have not forgot my charger.

I feel your pain. I did the same thing on a recent trip to Ireland and Scotland. It took me 5 days to find a place where I could buy a universal charger. I used my cell phone camera in the interim and it worked pretty good. If you can find a camera store nearby your location purchase a universal charger. That will resolve your problem now. When you get home leave it in your travel bag so you will always have it. Good luck.

I am from Georgia, but in Seattle now. I too forgot my charger, so I just went down to Glazer's Photo store and picked up
an off brand for $15.00. It works just fine, and also came with an adapter for car charging.

Not sure if this could be an option for you in the future, but I got the optional battery grip for my Nikon D750 because it will take AA batteries in a pinch.

Alan, You are in Loveland Co, and I'm visiting in Hudson some 50 miles from you. I have a Canon LC-E6 charger for 5Diii with me (battery LP-E6). If you want to take the time I'll meet you somewhere and loan you the charger.
When you finish you trip you can return it.

My charger, plus a spare battery (fully charged), are always in my camera backpack. I guess that doing thus is me being a bit anal, but so far I haven't been confronted with your dilemma.

What you will get from the iPhone will never be as good at what you could get from the Canon. I would change my travel plans to find a charger. While some will state that a cell phone is better than none at all, you're not going to get steady long exposures without a tripod and your Canon.
